Surah: Yunus (01-109)
Surah: Hud (01-05)

Surah Al Bara’at

> ” They will make excuses to you when you return to them (after the expedition of Tabuk). Say (O Muhammad): Make no excuses, we shall by no means believe you. Indeed Allah has informed us of the true state of matters concerning you. Allah will uphold your doings and (so will) His messenger; and then you will be brought back to Him who knows the hidden and the manifest, who will then inform you of that which you were doing”: (94)

> ” They will swear by Allah to you, when you return to them, that you may turn away from them; so turn away from them; verily they are scum and their abode is hell; a recompense for what they used to earn”: (95)

> ” They will swear to you that you may be pleased with them. Even if you are pleased with them, (remember) Allah is not pleased with the wicked people”: (96)

> ” The Arabs of the desert are hardest in infidelity and hypocrisy, and more inclined not to know the laws which Allah has sent down to His messenger; and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise”: (97)

Flag 1: Return from Tabuk & the hypocritic pretence: (Bara’at-9: 94-97)

> ” And of the rustic Arabs of the desert there are those who take what they spend as a fine (loss), and they wait for (evil) turns of fortune for you. The evil turn of fortune will be for them. Allah is Hearing, Knowing”: (98)

Flag 2: The Evil Wishers: (Bara’at-9: 98)

> ” And of the rustic Arabs of the desert there are those who believe in Allah and the last day and consider what they spend to be a means of approach to Allah and the blessings of the messenger. Verily it shall be a means of approach for them, soon shall Allah admit them to His mercy; verily Allah is oft-forgiving, merciful”: (99)

Flag 3: True Believers amongst Rustic Arabs: (Bara’at-9: 99)

> ” And the first and foremost among those who left their homes (migrated from Makkah to Madina-Muhajirs), those who welcomed them (in Madina-Ansars), and those who followed them in goodness: Allah is well pleased with them and they are well pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens in which rivers flow where they will abide forever. That is a great achievement”: (Bara’at-9: 100)

Flag 4: Equality amongst foremost (Muhajirs & Ansars) thereby rejecting any claimed superiority of one over other: (Bara’at-9: 100)

> And among those around you of the rustic Arabs of the desert there are hypocrites, and among the residents of Madina (there are some who) are stubborn in hypocrisy. You do not know them. We know them, and We will punish them twice, and then they will be brought back to grievous chastisement”: (101)

Flag 5: Those Stubborn in Hypocrisy: (Bara’at-9: 101)

> ” And there are others who have confessed their sins. They have mixed up good action with another that was evil. It may be that Allah will turn to them (in mercy), verily Allah is oft-forgiving, merciful”: (102)

> ” Take alms out of their wealth, thereby you will cleanse them and purify them, and pray for them. Verily your prayer is an assurance (of peace) for them. And Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing”: (103)

> ” Do they not know that Allah is He who accepts repentance from His bondmen and receives the alms, and Allah is verily He (who is) the oft-returning (to mercy), the merciful”? (104)

Flag 6: Allah’s Message in respect of the Repentant Faithfuls: (Bara’at-9: 102-105)

> ” Say (to them): Act (as you will). Allah beholds your deeds, and (so do) His messenger and the believers; and then you shall be brought back to the knower of the hidden and the manifest; then He will tell you of what you were doing”: (105)

Flag 7: Who are the beholders (knowers) of your deeds besides Allah? (Bara’at-9: 105)

(i) The ‘Believers’ above refers to those thoroughly purified by Allah Himself (Ahzab-33: 33).

(ii) The presence of these the thoroughly purified) in the past and in all times to come in future has been confirmed by Allah Himself (Noor-24: 55).

And Allah bears witness that verily they are liars”: (107)

> ” Never (O Muhammad) stand (to pray) there. Surely a masjid founded on piety from the very first day is worthier than you should stand (to pray) therein, wherein are men who love to be purified. And Allah loves the purified”: (108)

> ” Is he who has laid his foundation on strict observance of Allah’s laws (taqwa) and (His) goodwill better or he who lays his foundation on the brink of a crumbling bank, which crumbles with him in the fire of hell? Allah does not guide the people who are wilfully unjust”: (109)

> ” The building which they built will never cease to be a source of disquiet in their hearts till their hearts are cut off to pieces: and Allah is all-knowing, all-wise”: 110)

He fought against faithfuls in Uhad and Hunayn and then went to Hercules (Byzantine Emperor) to raise an army to crush Muslims. From there he coordinated with hypocrites at Madina to construct the Masjid-e- Zarrar to house subversive activities against Muslims. By the time this masjid was completed Abu Amir died in Syria. The hypocrites requested the Holy Prophet to consecrate it by praying therein and Allah commanded against it. The Masjid-e- Zarrar was subsequently demolished.

> ” Verily Allah has purchased from the faithful their selves and their properties; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of paradise). They fight in Allah’s way, and they slay and they are slain; (this is) a promise binding on Him in the Tawrat and the Injil and the Quran. Who is more faithful to His covenant than Allah? Therefore rejoice in the bargain which you have transacted; and that is the great achievement”: (111)

Flag 10: For whom the glad tidings are there? (Bara’at-9: 112)

> ” It is not for Allah to lead a people astray after He has guided them, so much so that He makes clear for them as to what they should abstain from. Verily Allah knows all things”: (115)

> ” Verily Allah! To Him belongs the kingdom of heavens and earth. He gives life and He causes to die, and there is no guardian or helper for you besides Allah”: (116)

> ” And to the three also (did He turn in mercy) who were left behind until when the earth, vast as it is, became sustained to them, and their own souls became straitened to them, and they thought there was no refuge from Allah except Him, then He turned to them in mercy that they too might turn repentant to Him. Verily! Allah is oft-returning, merciful”: (118)

> ” It was not for the people of Madina and those around them of the dwellers of the desert that they should stay behind the messenger of Allah, nor to prefer their lives to his life. This is because, neither thirst, nor fatigue, nor hunger afflicts them in Allah’s way, nor do they tread a path which enrages the infidels, nor do they receive from the enemy (any injury), but it is reckoned to their credit as a deed of righteousness. Verily Allah does not let the reward of those who do good to go waste”: (120)

> ” Nor do they spend any spending (in the way of Allah), small or great, nor do they cross a valley (in the cause of Allah) but it is recorded to their credit, that Allah may reward them with the best for that which they have been doing”: (121)

> ” Nor should the faithful all go forth (to war) together. Why should not then a contingent from every party of them go forth, that they (who are left behind) may acquire (proper) understanding in religion, and that they may warn their people when they return to them, so that they may beware”? (122)

Flag 15: Command for strong administration & fighting against penetration by the infidels: (Bara’at-9: 123)

> ” And whenever a surah is sent down, there are some of them (the hypocrites) who ask (one another): Which of you has had his faith increased? As for those who believe, it strengthens them in faith and they rejoice”: (124)

> ” But as for those in whose hearts is a disease, it adds uncleanliness to their uncleanliness, and they shall die while they are infidels”: (125)

> ” Do they not see that they are tried every year once or twice? Even then they do not turn repentant to Allah, nor do they remember”: (126)

> ” Whenever a surah is sent down, they look at each other (so as to ask): Does anyone see you? Then they turn away. Allah has turned their hearts away because they are a people who do not understand”: (127)

> ” Indeed a messenger from among you has come to you. Any distress that befalls you grieves him, (he is) most solicitous for your welfare, (he is) most kind and merciful to the believers”: (128)

Flag 16: Opposite effect of sending down of Quranic verses on the believers and hypocrites: (Bara’at-9: 124-128)

> ” But if they turn away, say: Allah suffices me. There is no god but He. On Him do I rely, and He is the Lord of the great throne”: (129)

> ” Their cry therein (will be): Glory to You O Allah! And their greeting in it (will be): Peace: And end of their cry (will be): (All) praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds”: (10)

> ” And if Allah were to hasten for men the evil (they have earned) as they would fain hasten on the good, then surely their doom would have been decreed unto them, but We leave those who do not hope to meet Us to wander blindly perplexed in their contumacy” : (11)

> ” And when any affliction touches a man he cries lying on his side, or sitting or standing, but when We remove his affliction, he passes on as though he had never cried to Us for an affliction that touched him. Thus is made fair-seeming to transgressors what they do” : (12)

> ” And indeed We did destroy the generations before you when they did wrong and messengers came to them with clear signs, but they would not believe. Thus we recompense the guilty people” : (13)

> ” They worship beside Allah that which can neither hurt them nor profit them, and they say: These are our intercessors with Allah. Say: Would you inform Allah something that He knows not in the heavens and earth? Glory be to Him. Exalted is He (far) above what they associate (with Him)”: (18)

> ” He it is who enables you to travel by land and sea; so that you board ships, and they sail with them with a favorable breeze, and they rejoice thereat; then a violent gale begins to blow and there comes upon them a billow from every side, and they think they are encompassed herewith, (then) they cry to Allah, professing sincerity to him in their faith in Him, saying: If you (O our Lord) deliver us from this, we shall indeed be of those who are thankful”: (22)

> ” But when He delivers them, behold! They rebel in the earth unjustly, O mankind! your rebellion is only against yourself, – a provision for the life of this world, then to Us you have to return, then We will inform you of what you were doing”: (23)

> ” The likeness of the life of the world is only as water which We send down from the sky; and by its mingling grows the produce of the earth, of which men and cattle eat, until when the earth puts on its golden raiment and is adorned, and the people (its tillers) think that they have powers (of disposal) over it; (but suddenly) comes our command by night or by day, and We make it mowed down as though there was nothing there yesterday. Thus do We explain the signs in detail for people who reflect”: (24)

> ” And those who have earned evil will be punished to an equal degree as their evil, and ignominy shall overtake (them); they shall have no protector (from the wrath of Allah); as if their faces have been covered with a cloak of darkest night. They are the inmates of fire where they will abide forever”: (27)

Flag 27: Good and Evil Doers and their Proportionate Recompense: (Yunus-10: 26-27):

> ” Say (O Muhammad): Of your associate gods, is there any who can guide to the truth? Say: it is Allah alone who guides to the truth. Is then He who guides to the truth is more worthy to be followed, or he who can not find the right path unless guided? What ails you? How (ill) you judge”? (35)

> ” And most of them follow nothing but conjecture; verily conjecture can not avail (anything) against the truth; verily Allah knows what they do”: (36)

> ” Or do they say: He (Muhammad) has forged it? Say: Bring then a surah like this, and call on whomsoever you can beside Allah, if you are truthful”: (38)

> ” Nay, they belied that which they did not comprehend with the knowledge thereof, and whose explanation did not come to them. Even so, did those before them deny. Then see what was the end of unjust”! (39)

> ” And of them is he who believes in it, and of them is he who does not believe in it, and your Lord knows the mischief-makers well”: (40)

> ” And on the day when He shall gather them altogether, as though (it will appear to them) they had not tarried (in the world, or in the grave) but an hour of the day. They will recognise each other. Surely those who belied the meeting with Allah and were not guided aright will perish”: (45)

Flag 30: Recognising each other on resurrection: (Yunus-10: 45)
