At the outset, it is necessary to acknowledge innumerable sources used in compilation of this effort. No attempt has been made to list the references individually; but sincere thanks are due to all, individually and collectively.

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL
Surah Hud
(06-123)
> ” There is not a creature that moves on the earth but on Allah is the sustenance thereof. And He knows its resting-place and its repository; and everything is in the manifest book”: (06)

> ” These are they for whom there is nothing in hereafter but the fire, and vain shall be that which they have wrought in it, and vain shall be what they were doing”: (16)

> ” And who is more unjust than he who forges a lie against Allah? These shall be arraigned before their Lord, and shall say the witnesses: These are those who lied against their Lord. Beware (now) verily the curse of Allah is on the unjust”: (18)

> ” Who hinder (others) from the path of Allah and seek to make it crooked; and they are the people who disbelieve in the hereafter”: (19)
> ” They shall not weaken (His plan) on earth, nor shall there be, for them, beside Allah, any protecting friends. The torment shall be doubled for them. They could not bear to hear, nor they used to see”: (20)
> ” These are those who have lost their souls, and that they used to forge (the false gods) have left them in lurch”: (21)
> ” Undoubtedly they are the very people who will be the greatest losers in the hereafter”: (22)

> ” He said: O my people! Do you think, if I be on a clear proof from my Lord, and He has bestowed on me a mercy from Himself, and it has been made obscure to you; shall we force it upon you while you are averse thereto”? (28)
> ” And, O my people! I do not ask you for any wealth in return. My reward is with Allah alone, and I will not drive away those who believe; verily they shall meet their Lord, but verily I see you are an ignorant people”: (29)
> ” O my people, who will help me against Allah, if I drive them away. Will you then not take heed”? (30)
> ” And I do not say to you that with me are the treasures of Allah, nor that I know the unseen, nor do I say that I am an angel; nor do I say about those who are contemptible in your eyes that Allah will never bestow (any) good on them. Allah knows best what is in their hearts. Verily in that case I should be of the unjust”: (31)

> ” Until when our command came and the waters gushed forth from the oven, We said: Carry into it two of every kind, a pair, and your family, except him against whom the sentence is already passed and those who believe. And those who believed with him were few”: (40)

> ” And Nuh said: embark in it. In the name of Allah be its sailing and its anchorage! verily my Lord is oft-forgiving, merciful”: (41)
> ” And it moved on with them amid waves like mountains; and Nuh called to his son, while he was standing aloof: O my son! Embark with us, and do not be with the disbelievers”: (42)
> ” He said, I will be take me to a mountain that shall save me from the water: Nuh said: There is no protector today from Allah’s decree save (for) him on whom He has mercy. And a wave came between them, so he was among those who were drowned”: (43)

> ” And it was said: O earth, swallow your water; and O sky, cease (raining). And the water subsided, and the decree was fulfilled. And it (the ark) came to rest upon (the mount) Al Judi and it was said: Away with the unjust people”: (44)
Flag 17: The Great Flood (Nuh Era): (Hud-11: 40-44)
> ” And Nuh cried to his Lord and said: My Lord! Verily my son is of my family, and verily Your promise is true, and You are the most just of all judges”: (45)
> ” He (Allah) said: O Nuh, verily he is not of your family; verily his conduct is other than righteous, therefore ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge; verily I admonish you lest you may be among the ignorant”: (46)
> ” He said: O my Lord ! Verily I seek refuge with You from asking You of that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy on me, I shall be of the losers”: (47)
Flag 18: Birth & Ancestry alone is not adequate to qualify for Allah’s Mercy: Decree concerning Nuh’s infidel Son: (Hud-11: 45-47)
> ” It was said: O Nuh, come down (from the ark) with peace from Us, and (with) blessings on you, and on the peoples (who will spring) from those with you; and there shall be (other) people who We shall give provisions, and thereafter a painful torment shall afflict them from Us”: (48)
> ” These are tidings of the unseen which We revealed to you (O Muhammad). You did not know them yourself, nor your people, before this. Therefore be patient; verily the (happy) end is (only) for those who safeguard themselves against evil with full awareness of divine laws”: (49)
Flag 19: Nuh’s descendents: (Hud-11: 48-49)
> ” And to (the people of) Ad (We sent) their brother Hud. He said: O my people, worship Allah, you have no god other than He, you are but forgers”: (50)
> ” O my people! I do not ask you any recompense for it; my recompense is only with Him who created me. Will you then not understand”? (51)
> ” O my people! Ask forgiveness of your Lord, and then turn repentant to Him. He will send you clouds pouring abundant rain, and He will add strength to your strength. Do not turn back guilty”: (52)
> ” They said: O Hud! You have not brought us any clear sign (of your truthfulness) and we will not desert our gods on your word, nor do we believe you”: (53)
> ” We say nothing but this that some of our gods have smitten you with evil. He said: Verily I call Allah to witness, and bear you also witness that I am free of what you associate>>>”: (54)
>>> ” With Him; so plot against me , all of you, and give me no respite”: (55)
> ” Verily, I rely on Allah, my Lord and your Lord, there is no living creature but He holds (in His control) by its forelock; verily my Lord is on the right path”: (56)
> ” If you then turn back, indeed I have conveyed to you that with which I have been sent to you, and my Lord will make another people to succeed you, and you cannot do harm to Him in any way at all; verily my Lord is keeping (protecting) watch over all things”: (57)
Flag 20: Hud & his People (Ad): (Hud-11: 51-57):
> ” And when our decree came to pass, We delivered Hud and those who believed with him by a mercy from Us; and We delivered them from a (very) severe torment”: (58)
> ” And such were the (people of) Ad; they denied the signs of their Lord, and disobeyed His messenger, and followed the bidding of every insolent tyrant”: (59)
> ” And they were followed in this world by a curse, and (so will they be) on the day of resurrection. Behold, verily (the people of) Ad disbelieved in their Lord. Behold! Away with Ad, the people of Hud”: (60)
Flag 21: Curse of both worlds on people of Hud (Ad): (Hud-11: 58-60)
> ” And to the (people of) Thamud We sent their brother Salih, He said: O my people! Worship Allah. You have no god other than He. He brought you forth from the earth and has made you prosper therein; therefore ask forgiveness of Him, then turn repentant to Him. Verily my Lord is nigh, responsive”: (61)
> ” They said: O Salih! Indeed you have been amongst us before this, as a centre of our hopes. Do you (now) forbid us the worship of what our fathers worshipped? And verily we are in disquieting doubt concerning that to which you call us”: (62)
> ” He said: O my people! Do you see? If I have a clear sign (guidance) from my Lord and He has granted me mercy (messengership) from Himself, who then will help me against Allah if I were to disobey Him? Therefore you would not add to my portion (anything) except loss”: (63)
> ” And O my people! This is the she camel of Allah, a sign for you (of my truthfulness), therefore leave her to pasture in Allah’s earth, and do not touch her with evil, lest a swift torment overtake you”: (64)
> ” Yet they hamstrung her. Then he said: Enjoy (yourself) in your abode for three days. This is a promise, not to be belied”: (65)
> ” When Our decree came to pass, We delivered Salih and those who believed with him by mercy from us, and the ignominy of that day. Verily your Lord! He is strong, mighty”: (66)
> ” And the (mighty) blast seized those who were unjust, so they became corpses thrown down in their homes”: (67)
> ” As though they had not dwelt there. Behold! Verily (the people of ) Thamud disbelieved in their Lord. Behold! Verily, away with (the people of) Thamud”: (68)
Flag 22. Prophet Salih, People of Thamud & the She Camel: (Hud-11: 61-68)
> ” And indeed our messengers (angels) came to Ibrahim with glad tidings; they said: Peace! Ibrahim replied: Peace! and delayed not to bring a roasted calf”: (69)
> ” But when he saw that their hands would not stretch towards it, he wondered and conceived a fear of them. (The angels) said: Do not fear; verily we are sent to the people of Lut”: (70)

Flag 24: Ibrahim’s Ahlul Bayt: (Hud-11: 73)
Note:
(i) Ahlul Bayt, a divinely chosen term to praise and glorify certain persons.
(ii) Sarah was chosen amongst ahlul Bayt because she was Ibrahim’s cousin and was going to give birth to Ishaq, in addition to her own merits.
(iii) The term has been used exclusively for the family of Ibrahim including both Isaraelite and the Ismailite branches.
> ” And when the awe departed from Ibrahim, and the glad tidings had come to him, he began to plead with Us for Lut’s people”: (74)
> ” Verily Ibrahim was forbearing, compassionate, oft-returning (to Allah)”: (75)
> ” O Ibrahim, forsake this . Indeed the decree of your Lord has come to pass; and verily for them there comes a torment, irreversible”: (76)
Flag 25: Glad Tidings of Ishaq and Yaqub to Ibrahim: (Hud-11: 71-76)
> ” And when Our messengers (the angels) came to Lut, he was grieved on their account and felt powerless to protect them and said : This is a distressful day”: (77)
> ” And His people came rushing towards him; for aforetime they used to do evil deeds. He said: O my people! These are my daughters, they are purer for you, so have fear of Allah, and disgrace me not with regard to my guests. Is there not among you a single right-minded man”? (78)
> ” They said: Indeed you know we have no need for your daughters, and verily you know very well what we want”: (79)
> ” He said would that I had strength to resist you or could betake myself to a strong support”: (80)
> ” The angels said: O Lut! Verily we are messengers from your Lord. Never shall they reach you. So leave late at night with your family and none of you should turn back to look, but your wife (will remain behind); verily which befalls them shall befall her. Verily their appointed time is the morning. Is not the morning nigh”? (81)
> ” So when our decree came to pass We turned (their township) upside down, and rained on them stones of baked clay, layer upon layer”: (82)
> ” Marked as from your Lord; nor are they (the ruins of Sodom) far from the unjust”: (83)
Flag 26: Prophet Lut and Homosexuals of Sodom: (Araf-7: 80-84 & Hud-11: 76-83)
> ” And to (the people of) Midian (We sent) their brother Shuayb. He said: O my people! Worship Allah, you have no god other than He; and do not give short measure and weight. Verily I see you in prosperity, and verily I fear for you the torment of an encompassing day”: (84)
> ” And O my people! Give full measure and weight in justice, and do not defraud the people of their things, and act not corruptly in the earth, making mischief”: (85)
> ” That which is left to you by Allah is better, if you are believers, but I am not a warden over you”: (86)
Flag 27: Significance of ‘Baqiyyatullah’: (Hud-11: 86)
Note:
(i) On the authority of Imam Jafar bin Muhammad al-Sadiq: When the last of us will come, there will be only 313 faithfuls with him. Leaning on the wall of Ka-bah he will recite verse 86 of Hud. All people will address him as ‘Baqiyyatullah’.
> ” They said: O Shuayb! Does your religion command you that we should forsake what our fathers worshipped, or that we (should leave off) doing what we like with our own property? Forsooth you are forbearing, right-minded”! (87)
> ” He said: O my people! Do you see if I am on a clear sign (guidance) from my Lord, and He has given me from Himself sustenance (pure and) good? I do not desire, in opposition to you, to do that which I forbid you to do. I desire naught but reform so far I am able to. My guidance is not but with Allah; upon Him do I rely and to Him I turn repentant”: (88)
> ” And O my people! Do not let opposition to me cause you to sin, so that their befall you like of what befell on the people of Nuh, or the people of Hud, or the people of Salih; nor are the people of Lut far off from you”: (89)
> ” And ask forgiveness of your Lord and turn repentant to Him; verily my Lord is merciful and loving”: (90)
> ” They said: O Shuayb! We do not understand much of what you say, and most surely we see you weak amongst us, and were it not for your family, we would surely have stoned you; and you are not strong against us”: (91)
> ” He said: O my people ! Is my family more to be honoured by you than Allah? And Him you have cast behind your backs, neglected. Verily, my Lord encompasses all that you do”: (92)
> ” And O my people! Act according to your ability, verily I too am acting. You will soon know on whom comes the torment that will disgrace him, and who it is that lies. And watch, verily I am also watching with you”: (93)
> ” And when our decree came to pass, We delivered Shuayb and those who believed with him by a mercy from us, and the (mighty) blast overtook those who did in justice , so they became corpses thrown down in their homes”: (94)
> ” As though they had not dwelt there at all. Behold, away with (the people of) Midian, even as had been the case with (the people of) Thamud”: (95)
Flag 28: Corruption and making Mischief on Earth: Prophet Shuayb to people of Midian: (Hud-11: 84-95)
> ” And most certainly We sent Musa with Our signs, and a manifest authority”: (96)
> ” To Firawn and his chiefs, but they followed the biding of Firawn, though the bidding of Firawn was no right directive”: (97)
> ” He shall lead his people on the day of resurrection and bring them down into the fire; but woeful indeed will be this leading (and) the place led to”: (98)
> ” They are followed by a curse in this (life) and (also) on the day of resurrection; and woeful is the gift which shall be given (to them)”: (99)

> ” And We did not do any injustice to them, but they were unjust to themselves, so their gods, whom they called upon besides Allah, did not avail aught, when the decree of your Lord came to pass; they added them naught save perdition”: (101)
> ” Such is the grasp of your Lord when He grasps townships when they are unjust. Verily His grasp (punishment) is painful, severe”: (102)
> ” Verily, in this is a sign for him who fears the chastisement of hereafter, the day when mankind shall be gathered together – a day that shall be witnessed by all”: (103)
> ” Nor We delay it but for an appointed term”: (104)
> ” The day it comes no soul will dare say a word but by His leave; then (some) of them shall be wretched, and (some) shall be blessed”: (105)
> ” As for those who shall be wretched, they shall be in fire, wherein for them shall be sighing and groaning”: (106)
> ” Where they shall abide so long as heavens and earth endure, except (as) that your Lord wills. Verily, your Lord is doer of whatsoever He wills”: (107)
> ” And for those who will be blessed, they shall be in the garden where they will abide so long as the heavens and earth endure, except (as) that your Lord wills; an unceasing gift”: (108)
> Therefore do not be in doubt concerning what these (people) worship. They do not worship save as their fathers worshipped before; and verily We will certainly pay them back in full (due) share without (any) rebate”: (109)
> ” And most certainly We gave Musa the book, but differences arose therein; and had not a word (decree for respite) gone forth from your Lord, the matter would surely have been decided between them; and verily they are in doubt about it (the Quran) (which is) disquieting (them): (110)
> ” And verily your Lord will pay back in full (the recompense of) their deeds to all. Verily He is fully aware of all they do”: (111)
Flag 30: Day of resurrection: Gathering of altogether (Wretched/Unjust and faithfuls/Blessed): (Hud-11:100-111)
> ” So (O Muhammad) stand firm (on the right path) as your are commanded (by your Lord) , (you) and he who has turned (to Allah) with you, and (O men) be not inordinate. Verily He sees what you do”: (112)
> ” And (O believers) do not incline towards those who act unjustly lest the fire touch you; there is no protector for you beside Allah, nor shall you be helped”: (113)
Flag 31: Allah’s Warning: Plain & Simple: (Hud-11: 112-113)
> ” And establish prayers at the two ends of the day, and approaches of night. Verily good deeds take away evil deeds: this is a reminder for those (believers) who are mindful”: (114)
> ” And be patient, for verily Allah does not waste the recompense of those who do good”: (115)

> ” And all that We relate to you of the accounts of the messengers is to confirm your heart with it. And the truth has come to you in this, and an admonition and a reminder to the believers”: (120)

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL
Surah Yusuf
(01-52)
> ” Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the book that manifests (the truth)”: (01)
> “Verily We have sent it down, the Arabic Quran, that you may understand”: (02)
> ” We narrate to you (O Muhammad) the best of narratives, in that We have revealed to you this Quran; though, before this you were of those who were unaware (of it)”: (03)
> ” When Yusuf said to his father: O my father! Verily I saw (in a dream) eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them prostrating to me”: (04)
Flag 38: Prostration to Ghair-Allah as commanded by Allah Himself (Baqarah-2: 34: Yusuf-12: 04 & 100)
Note:
(i) Allah commanded prostration by angels to Adam (Baqarah-2: 34) and to Yusuf (Yusuf-12: 04&100).
(ii) Iblis turned into an accursed Shaytan (thrown out) on declining to prostrate to Ghair-Allah; although he was one of the foremost in Allah’s worship.
(iii) The compliance with Allah’s command in its entirety is the heart of worship. A non-compliant worship, irrespective of its intensity and duration, is most likely to result in naught.
(iv) It is an individual and collective duty to think and ensure that the worship is as decreed (without self or collectively imposed deviations) and is not non-compliant with Allah’s commands.
> ” He said: O my son! (Beware) Do not relate your dream to your brothers, lest they plot a plot against you. Verily Shaytan is an avowed enemy to man”: (05)
> ” And thus your Lord will choose you and teach you to interpret events, and will perfect His grace upon you and upon the children of Yaqub, as He perfected upon your fathers, Ibrahim and Ishaque. Verily your Lord is all-knowing, all -wise”: (06)
> ” Most certainly in (the story of) Yusuf and his brothers there are signs for those who inquire”: (07)
Flag 39. Yusuf’s Dream and Jealousy of Brothers: (Yusuf-12: 05-07)
> ” When they said: Surely Yusuf and his brother are dearer to our father than we, even though we are a (bigger) group. Verily our father is in manifest error”: (08)
> ” Slay Yusuf or cast him in some (distant) land, (so that) your father’s attention may be all for you, and you may be after that a righteous people”: (09)
Flag 40: The Evil Plan: (Yusuf-12: 07-09)
> ” A speaker amongst them said: Slay not Yusuf, but throw him into the bottom of a well. Some travellers may pick him up – if you must be doing (anything at all)”: (10)
Flag 41: The reluctant dissenting Opinion: (Yusuf-12: 10)
> ” They said: O our father! What is the matter with you that you do not trust us with Yusuf? Verily we are his well wishers”: (11)
> ” Send him with us tomorrow that he may enjoy himself and play, and verily, we shall take good care of him”: (12)
> ” He said: Verily it saddens me that you should take him away, and I fear lest the wolf devour him while you are heedless of him”: (13)
> ” They said: If a wolf should devour him when we are there (in a large number), verily then we should be the losers”: (14)
Flag 42: The Unfolding of Yusuf’s Story: (Yusuf-12: 11-14)
> ” So when they took him away and agreed to throw him down to the bottom of the well, We revealed to him: You will tell them (one day) of this deed of theirs while they will not recognise you”: (15)

(i) On the authority of Imam Jafar Sadiq: Jibrai advised Yusuf, while he was in the well, to invoke Allah in the following words: Allahumma Inni As-luka (O Allah, I beseech You) Bi-Anna Lakal Hamdu (Praise be to You) La Ilaha Illa Antal Mannanu (There is no god save You, the benign) Badi-Us Samawati Wal Arz (The originator of the heavens and the earth) Dhul Jalali Wal Ikram (The Lord of the grandeur and honour) An Tusalliya Ala Muhammadin Wa Ali Muhammad (Send your blessings on Muhammad and Ali Muhammad) Wa An Taj-alli Min Amri Farajan Wa Makhrajan (and make my affairs easy, and let it find a way out) Wa Turzuqni Min Haysu Ahtasib (and provide me from wherewith I reckon) Wa Min Haysu La Ahtasib (and from wherewith I do not reckon)
> ” And they came to their father at nightfall, weeping”: (16)
> ” They said: O our father! Verily we went racing , and we left Yusuf by our things; then a wolf devoured him, but you will not believe us, even though we tell the truth”: (17)
> ” And they came with false blood on his shirt. He said: Nay, your minds have beguiled you into something; but my course is comely patience; and Allah is He whose help is to be sought against what you describe”: (18)
Flag 44: Yusuf’s Brothers to Father (Yaqub): (Yusuf-12: 16-18)
> ” And there came a caravan and they sent their water drawer. He let down his bucket (into the well). He said: What luck! Here is a boy: and they concealed him as an article of merchandise; and Allah was the knower of what they were doing”: (19)
> ” And they sold him for the paltry sum of few dirham counted out; for they held him in low esteem”: (20)
Flag 45: Brothers sell Yusuf: (Yusuf-12: 19-20)
> ” And he of Egypt who purchased him said to his wife: Give him an honourable place. He may be of use to us or we will adopt him as a son.Thus did We establish Yusuf in the land, that We might teach him the interpretation of events. Verily Allah is predominant in His affairs, but most men do not know”: (21)
> ” And when he reached the prime of his life, We gave him authority (Prophethood) and knowledge; and thus do We recompense those who do good”: (22)
Flag 46: Yusuf in Egypt and a recompense from Allah: (Yusuf-12: 20-22)
> ” And she in whose house he was, sought to seduce him from his (pure) self; and she fastened the doors and said: Now come you! He said: I seek refuge in Allah. Verily He is my Lord. He has given me the best of lodgings; verily the unjust never prosper”: (23)
> ” And indeed she desired him, and he (also) would have desired her had he not seen the evidence of his Lord. Thus it was that We might turn away from him evil and shameful deeds, verily he was one of Our sincere and faithful servants”: (24)
> ” Both of them raced to the door, and she (grabbed and) rented his shirt from behind. They met her husband at the door. She said: What is the penalty for a man who intends evil to your wife save imprisonment or a painful punishment”? (25)
> ” (Yusuf said): It was she who sought to seduce me from my (pure) self’. And a witness from her household bore witness: If his shirt be torn at the front, then she speaks the truth and he is of the liars”: (26)
> ” But if his shirt be torn at the back, then she is lying and he is of the truthful”: (27)
> ” So when (the husband) saw the shirt torn at the back, he said: This is the guile of you woman. Verily the guile of you (woman) is terrible”: (28)
> ” Ignore; this affair, O Yusuf; and you (O my wife) ask forgiveness for your sin; verily you have been of the guilty”: (29)
> ” And the women in the city said: The wife of Al Aziz (nobleman of high rank) seeks to seduce her page from his (pure) self. Verily he has inflamed her with violent love. Verily we see her in manifest error”: (30)
> ” Then, when she heard their slanderous talk, she sent for them and prepared a banquet, and gave each of them a knife, and said (to Yusuf) : Come out before them. So when they saw him they did extol him; and (in their amazement) cut their hands, and said: ‘Hasha lillah’ (Allah is perfect)! He is no mortal but a noble angel”: (31)
> ” She said: This is he on his account you blamed me. I did seek to seduce him from his (pure) self, but he did firmly save himself from sin, and now if he does not do my bidding he shall certainly be imprisoned, and shall certainly be brought low”! (32)
> ” He said: O my Lord , dearer is prison than what they invite me to; and if You do not turn their guile away from me I may incline unto them and be of those who are ignorant”: (33)
> ” So his Lord heard his prayer and turned away their guile from him. Verily He is all-wise, all-knowing”: (34)
Flag 47: Yusuf and She and Allah’s help: (Yusuf-12: 23-34)
> ” Then it occurred to them (even) after they had seen the signs (of his innocence) that they should put him in prison for a time”: (35)
Flag 48: Yusuf in Prison: (Yusuf-12: 35)
> ” And two young men entered the prison with him. One of them said: Verily I saw myself (in a dream) pressing wine. And the other said: I saw myself (in a dream) carrying bread on my head, and birds were eating thereof. Tell us: (They said): the interpretation, verily we see you are one who does good”: (36)
> ” Yusuf said: They will not bring you the food with which they feed you, but I will tell you the interpretation before it comes to you. This is of what my Lord has taught me. Verily I have forsaken the religion of those people who do not believe in Allah, and they are the people who disbelieve in hereafter”: (37)
> ” And I follow the religion of my fathers – Ibrahim, Ishaque, and Yaqub; and it is not (lawful) for us to associate aught with Allah. This is Allah’s grace upon us and upon mankind, but most of the mankind do not give thanks”: (38)
> ” O my two fellow-prisoners! Are many lords differing among themselves, better, or Allah, the one, dominant”? (39)
> “Those of whom you worship besides Him are but names which you have named, you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down for them any authority. Judgement belongs to Allah alone. He has commanded that you worship none but Him alone. This is the right religion, but most people do not know (it)”: (40)
Flag 49: Judgment belongs to Allah alone: (Yusuf-12: 40)
> ” O my fellow-prisoners, as to one of you, he will pour out wine for his lord to drink; as to the other, he shall be crucified, then the birds shall eat from his head. The matter which you two have asked has been decreed so”: (41)
> ” And he said to him of the two who he knew would be saved : Mention me to your lord. But the devil caused him to forget to mention him to his lord, so he stayed in prison for some years”: (42)
Flag 50: The blessed and guided Prophet Yusuf: (Yusuf-12: 36-42)
> ” And the king said: Verily I saw in a dream seven fat cows which seven lean ones were devouring; and seven green ears (of corn) and others seven dry. O my chiefs, explain to me my dream, if you can interpret dreams”: (43)
> ” They said: (These are) confused dreams, and we do not know the interpretation of such dreams”: (44)
> ” And he of the two who was released, and (now) at length remembered said: I will give you its interpretation, so let me go for it”: (45)
> ” O Yusuf the truthful, expound for us seven fat cows which seven lean ones were devouring and the seven green ears (of corn) and other (seven) dry, that I may return to the people, so that they may know”: (46)
> ” He said: You shall sow seven years as usual, but that which you reap, leave in its ears, except a little, of which you shall eat”: (47)
> ” Then after that, will come seven years of hardship which will consume all that you have up beforehand against them, except a little which you shall preserve”: (48)
> ” Then will come after that a year in which people will have abundant rain, in which they will press (the grapes)”: (49)
> ” The king said: Bring him to me. So when the messenger came to him, (Yusuf) said: Go back to your lord and ask him the condition of women who cut their hands. Verily my Lord knows their guile”: (50)
> ” The king said (to the women): ‘What was the matter with you when you did seek to seduce Yusuf from his (pure) self? The women said: Hasha lillah (Allah is perfect), we know no evil against him. The wife of Al-Aziz said: Now the truth has come to light. It was I who sought to seduce him from his (pure) self; he is surely of the truthful”: (51)
> ” Yusuf said: (I did) this in order that he (the king) may know I did not betray him (al-Aziz) in his absence, and that Allah does not let guile of betrayers succeed”: (52)
