The Highlighted Quranic listing of the Fourteenth Separa (Rubama) is here. An attempt has been made to simplify the tracking of the desired information. At the outset, it is necessary to acknowledge innumerable sources used in the compilation of this effort. No attempt has been made to list the references individually; but sincere thanks are due to all, individually and collectively.

  2. Each (Flag) refers to the corresponding (verse or verses) and identifies (explanatory note), if any

  4. For example (Nahl-16: 58-59) refers to the fifty-eighth and fifty-ninth verses of Surah An Nahl which is the sixteenth Surah of the Holy Quran.

Surah Al Hijr


> ” Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the book, and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear”: (01) 

> ” Often those who disbelieve will wish that they were Muslims”: (02)

> ” Leave them (O Muhammad) to eat and enjoy (in worldly pleasures), and let (vain) hope beguile them. Soon they will come to know”: (03) 

> ” We never destroyed a town but that it had decreed term”: (04)

> ” No people can hasten its doom, nor can they delay”: (05) 

Flag 1: Fixed Term of Existence for all people/entities: Neither doom hastening nor delay (Hijr-15: 04-05)


(i) The destruction of people is never arbitrary. Instead, it is brought upon themselves by their own choice. 

(ii) The law or decree is always known to them beforehand; and enough respite/rope is always provided to give them a chance to understand and submit to Allah’s will.

> ” They say: O you to whom the reminder (the Quran) has been revealed! Verily you are insane”: (06) 

> ” Why do you not bring us the angels if you really are of the truthful”? (07)

> ” We do not send the angels but with the truth, and then they will not be given respite”: (08) 

Flag 2: Disbelievers Norm: Mocking Messengers; Rejoicing the life for a while and insisting to face angels: (Hijr-15: 02-08) 

> ” Verily, We have sent down the reminder, and We will certainly be its guardian”: (09)

> ” Verily, We sent (many messengers) before you among the ancient nations>>>”: (10)

> ” Even so do We make it (the truth) enter into the hearts of the guilty”: (12)

> ” They do not believe in it (in spite of) the example of ancient people that has already passed (before them)”: (13) 

> ” Even if We open a gateway in the heaven for them so that they may continue to ascend into it”: (14)

> ” Yet they would say: Surely our eyes have been inebriated, nay, we are a bewitched people”! (15)

> ” Verily We have made constellations in the heavens, and We have beautified them for the beholders”: (16)

> ” Except the one who (tries to) listen stealthily, and then a visible flame pursues him”: (18) 

Flag 6: Earth a Component of the Universe (Celestial Ream/Terrestrial World): (Hijr-15: 16-18)

> ” The earth – We have spread it out, and placed firm mountains on it, and therein We caused everything to grow in a proper measure”: (19) 

> ” And We have made for you therein means of subsistence, and for (the other creatures) whom you do not provide”: (20) 

> ” There is not a thing but its treasures are with us, and We do not send it down but according to known measures”: (21) 

Flag 7: Allah’s creations in Scientific Language: (Hijr-15: 19-12)


(i) The term ‘Measure or Measures’ highlights the chemical, physical, biological,etc process routinely occurring in nature. 

> ” We send the winds fertilising, and then We send water from clouds, and We give it to you to drink: but you are not its storers”: (22) 

Flag 8: The atmospheric gases and water cycle: (Hijr-15: 22) 


(i) The fertilisation provided by nitrogen and oxygen and the role of the water cycle in nature have been highlighted. 

> ” Verily it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the inheritors”: (23)

Flag 9: Allah’s Way (Sunnat): Natural Evolutionary Process: The Intellect based Knowledge known as Science: (Hijr-15: 19-23)

> ” Verily We know those of you who go forward (eager to be foremost), and We know those who (like to) lag behind”: (24) 

> ” Verily your Lord is He who will gather them together, Verily He is all-wise, all-knowing”: (25) 

Flag 10: Allah differentiates between those who are Eager to fight in Allah’s Way and the Reluctants trailing behind: (Hijr-15: 24-25)

> ” We certainly created man from sounding clay, from black mud moulded into shape”: (26) 

> ” And Jinn, We created before, from the hot fire”: (27)

Flag 11: Origin of Man & Jinn: (Hijr-15: 26-27) 

> ” And (remember) when your Lord said to the angels: Verily I shall create man, from sounding clay, from black mud moulded into shape” : (28)

> ” So when I complete him and breathe My spirit into him you should fall down in prostration before him”: (29) 

Flag 12: Allah Commands Angels to Prostrate to Adam: (Hijr-15: 28-29)


(i) Prostration to Ghair-Allah (Other than Allah) is Allah’s Way (Sunnat) if it is in compliance with his command. 

(ii) Prostration to Yusuf (Yusuf-12: 04 &100) is the other example of a similar command.

> ” So the angels prostrated themselves altogether”: (30) 

> ” Except Iblis – he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves (before Adam)”: (31) 

Flag 13: Iblis’s refusal to comply with Allah’s Command: (Hijr-15: 30-31)

> ” (Allah) said: O Iblis! What ails you that you are not among those who prostrated themselves (before Adam)”? (32) 

> ” (Iblis) said: I am not one to prostrate myself before human being whom you have created from sounding clay, from black mud moulded into shape”: (33)

Flag 14: Declining a Single Command rendering Iblis’s entire worship into nothing: (Hijr-15: 33)

> ” (Allah) said: Then get out from here because you are surely driven away, accursed”: (34) 

Flag 15: The Essence of True Belief & Worship: (Hijr-15: 34) 


(i) The essence of true belief & worship is to follow Allah’s Command without if and but.

(ii) Departures and innovations to deviate from Allah’s command may render entire worship to nothing as it happened with Iblis. 

(iii) Do not ever, wilfully, ignore any of Allah’s command (including adherence to covenants with Him) while performing Wajibats (Obligatory/Mandatory Worship) and /or Mustahibats (Discretionary acts of Worship). 

> ” Verily the curse will be upon you till the day of judgement”: (35)

Flag 16: Journey from Iblis to Accursed, Driven Away Shaytan: (Hijr-15: 28-35)

> ” (Iblis ) said: My Lord! Give me respite till the day when they are raised”: (36) 

> ” (Allah) said: Then you are of those who are given respite”: (37)

> ” Till the day whose time is appointed”: (38) 

Flag 17: Respite to Iblis at his request and its limits: (Hijr-15: 36-38)

> ” (Iblis) said: My Lord ! As you have left me to astray, I will certainly make (evil) attractive to them in the earth, and I will certainly cause them to go astray altogether”: (39) 

> ” Except the sincerely devoted servants of Yours from among them”: (40)

Flag 18: Allah’s sincerely devoted servants (Ibadah Al-Mukhlisin): (Hijr-15: 39-40)


(i) Iblis’s declaration of the existence of ‘Devoted Servants’ (pre-Adam period). 

(ii) These ‘Devoted Servants’ are non other than Muhammad & Ali followed by the Ahlul Bayt: (Ahzab-33: 33). 

> ” (Allah) said: This is the straight path that leads to Me”: (41)

Flag 19: Allah’s Confirmation that path of (Mukhlisin) is the Straight Path (Sirate-Mustaqeem): (Hijr-15: 41) 


(i) The straight path refers to path of (Mukhlisin) thoroughly purified by Allah (Ahzab-33: 33) and identified as (an-amta alaihim) in (Fatihah-1: 07) for divine guidance in every age. 

(ii) Further reference to Sirate-Mustaqeem (Yasin-36: 61). 

> ” As for My (devoted) servants, you shall have no no power over them except those who follow you among the deviators”: (42) 

> ” Certainly hell is promised abode for them all”: (43) 

> ” Which has seven gates: a (separate) group (of disbelievers) shall be assigned to each gate”: (44) 

Flag 20: Gates (stages) of Hell correspond to the severity of the crime: (Hijr-15: 42-44)


(i) The seventh gate leading to the lowest depth of fire shall be for the hypocrites (Nisa-4: 145) 

> ” Verily those who safeguard themselves against evil shall be in midst of gardens and fountains”: (45) 

> ” (They will be told ): Enter (the gardens) in peace and security”! (46)

> ” We will remove whatever rancour may be in their hearts; (they shall become) as brothers (seating) face to face – upon the raised couches (of honour)”: (47)

> ” No weariness will come upon them, nor shall they ever be sent from there”: (48) 

Flag 21: Happy Ending for Mutaqins: (Hijr-15: 45-48)

> ” (O Muhammad) tell my servants that verily I am the oft-giving, the most merciful (God)”: (49) 

> ” (But) My chastisement is the painful chastisement”: (50) 

Flag 22: Allah’s Message for those who Think, Understand and Act logically: (Hjir-15: 49-50)

> ” And tell them about the guests of Ibrahim”: (51) 

> ” When (the angels) entered his presence and said: ‘Peace’. (Ibrahim) said: Verily we are afraid of you”! (52) 

> ” They said: Fear not ! Verily we have come to give you the glad tidings of a son endowed with wisdom”: (53) 

> ” He said: What! You give me glad tidings (of a son) though old age has already come upon me? What glad tidings are you giving me then”? (54)

> ” They said: We have given you a true glad tiding, so do not be one of those who despair”: (55) 

> ” He said: Who despairs of his Lord’s mercy except those who have gone astray”? (56) 

> ” He said: Then what is your business, O messengers (of Allah)”? (57)

> ” They said: Verily we have been sent to the guilty people of Lut”: (58)

> ” Except the family of Lut; verily we will deliver them all”: (59)

Flag 23: Ibrahim & Angels: (Hijr-15: 51-59)

> ” When the messengers came to the family of Lut”: (61) 

> ” (Lut) said: You people are unknown (to me)”: (62) 

> ” They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they have been doubting”: (63) 

> ” We have come to you with truth, and verily we are truthful”: (64)

> ” So go forth your family in a part of the night and you yourself follow in their rear and do not let any of you turn back, and go forth as you have been commanded”: (65) 

> ” And We revealed to him the decree that the roots of these people will be cut off in the morning”: (66) 

> ” The people of the town came to him rejoicing”: (67) 

> ” He said: Verily these people are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me”: (68) 

> ” Fear Allah and do not put me to shame”: (69) 

> ” They said: Have we not forbidden you from (protecting all and sundry) people”: (70)

(i) People of Al Hijr refers to Thamud. 

> ” We did not create the heavens and the earth and whatever is in between them but with truth; and verily the hour of (reckoning) is certain to come. So (O Muhammad), turn away (from them) with gracious pardoning”: (85)

> ” Verily your Lord is creator, the all-knowing”: (86)

> ” We have given you the seven oft-repeated (verses), and the glorious Quran”: (87)

(i) Those who spread division amongst faithfuls and damage their unity are referred to herein. 

> ” So, by your Lord, We shall certainly question all of them”: (92)

> ” As to what they used to do”: (93) 

> ” Therefore (O Muhammad) you just announce what you have been commanded, and turn away from the polytheists”: (94) 

> ” Verily We are sufficient for you against the scoffers”: (95)

> ” Who set up god beside Allah. They shall soon come to know”: (96)

> ” But celebrate the praise of your Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves (to Allah)”: (98)

Surah An Nahl


> ” The decree of Allah comes; therefore do not (seek to) hasten it. Glory be to Him, and far exalted is He above what they associate with Him”: (01)

Flag 33: The Advent of the Holy Prophet: (Nahl-16: 01)


(i) The advent of the holy Prophet represents finality of distinction between disbelievers and the believers (faithfuls). 

(ii) While the decree is there, only its execution in accordance with Allah’s plan is awaited. 

(iii) Disbelievers call for hastening of the same, therefore, means nothing.

> ” He sends down the angels with the spirit (revelation) by His (decree) on whomsoever of His servants He wills, (saying): Warn mankind that there is no god but I, therefore fear Me”: (02) 

> ” He created the heavens and the earth with truth; far exalted is He above what they associate with him”: (03) 

Flag 34: Reiteration of Allah’s Way (Sunnat) regarding purpose and nature of His Creations: (Nahl-16: 02-03) 

> ” He created man from a drop of semen; and behold (this same man) is an open contender”: (04) 

Flag 35: Behold the Doubter! (Nahl-16: 04) 


(i) This verse refers to Abdullah Ibn Ubayy who brought few bones to the holy Prophet and asked: Who could bring these to life again? 

> ” And the cattle! He has created them. For you in them there is warmth and many gains, and some you eat”: (05) 

> ” And then there is beauty (beseemingness) in them for you when you drive them home; and when you take them out (to pasture)”: (06) 

> ” And they carry your burdens to lands (so distant) you could not have reached without much hardship. Verily Your Lord is compassionate, merciful”: (07)

> ” And He has created horses; mules and asses that you may ride them, and as an adornment; and He creates what you do not know”: (08) 

Flag 36: Invitation to think and offer gratitude concerning His gift (Cattle): (Nahl-16: 05-08)

> ” It is for Allah to guide to the right way, and among them there are (ways) which deviate . If He willed He would certainly have guided you all”: (09)

Flag 37: Allah’s Way (Sunnat) leading to avail His Guidance: (Nahl-16: 09)


(i) Allah does not force anyone to follow the true way as He has given everyone a free choice. (Baqarah-2: 256). 

(ii) In Allah’s infinite mercy, abundant visible signs have been made available to allow individuals to contemplate and choose their own course of action. 

> ” He it is who sends down water from the heavens for you; from it you drink, and out of it (grows) plants which you use as pasture for your cattle”: ( 10) 

> ” He grows for you thereby corn, olives, dates grapes, and fruits of every kind. Verily in this is a sign for those who reflect”: (11)

Flag 38: Contemplate on Water! Allah’s all encompassing gift: (Nahl-16: 10-11)

> ” And He has harnessed the night and the day, the sun and the moon, to serve you; and the stars are made subservient to you by His decree. Verily in this, there are signs for those who understand”: (12) 

Flag 39: The Universe, Solar System, etc, Allah’s scientific miracle: Open invitation to think and arrive at a logical conclusion (Nahl-16: 12)

> ” And whatsoever He has produced in the earth of varied hues, verily, there is a sign in this for those (gratefully) bear in mind (the favours of Allah)”: (13)

> ” He it is who has made the sea subservient (to you) that you may eat fresh meat from it, and obtain ornaments which you wear. You see the ships cleaving through it that you may seek of His grace and that you may give thanks”: (14)

Flag 40: Allah’s favours: (Nahl-16: 13-14) 

> ” He has cast in the earth mountains standing firm, lest it may shake with you; and rivers and roads; that you may be guided”: (15) 

Flag 41: Think of the geological structure and origin of the earth? (Nahl-16: 15)

> ” And landmarks (too), and by the stars they are guided”: (16)

Flag 42: The astronomical landmarks: (Nahl-16: 16) 

> ” Is (then) He who creates like him who does not create? Will you then not contemplate”? (17)

> ” If you count the bounties of Allah you will not be able to number them. Verily Allah is oft forgiving merciful”: (18) 

Flag 44: Can you count Allah’s bounties? (Nahl-16: 18) 

> ” Allah knows what you hide and what you disclose”: (19) 

> ” Those whom they call besides Allah do not create anything and they themselves are created”: (20) 

> ” (They are) dead, not alive (at all); and they do not know when they will be raised”: (21) 

> ” Your God is one God. As to those who do not believe in the hereafter, their (stubborn) hearts are unyielding (to the truth) and they are arrogant”: (22)

Flag 45: Your God is One God: The only Creator: (Nahl-16: 02-22)

> ” Surely Allah knows what they hide and what they disclose. Verily He does not love the arrogant”: (23) 

> ” When it is said to them:What is it that your Lord sent down?, they say : Stories of the ancients”: (24) 

> ” That they may bear their burden entirely on the day of judgment, and also the burden of those whom they led astray without knowledge. How evil is that which they bear”! (25) 

> ” Those who were before them, indeed, had also plotted; then (the wrath of) Allah destroyed their buildings from the foundations, and the roof fell down on them from above, and the torment came upon them from where they were not (even) aware”: (26) 

> ” Then on the day of resurrection, He will disgrace them and say: Where are my (so-called) partners about whom you used to dispute? Those who have been given the knowledge will say: Verily today disgrace and evil are upon the infidels”: (27) 

Flag 46: ‘Those who have been given knowledge’ (Utul ilm): (Nahl-16: 27)


(i) ‘Those who have been given knowledge’ (Utul ilm) refers to thoroughly purified (Ahzab-33: 33 ) and (Rasekhoon fil ilm) as in (Al Imran-3: 7&18: Nisa-4: 162).

> ” (They are) those whom the angels terminate while they are being unjust to themselves. Then they will offer submission (saying): We were not doing anything evil. (They angels will say): Nay, verily Allah knows well what you were doing”: (28) 

> ” Therefore enter the gates of hell, to abide in it for ever’. Woeful indeed will be the abode of the haughty people”: (29) 

Flag 47: Destination Hell for the Arrogant & Haughty: (Nahl-16: 23-29)

> ” (When) it is said to those who guard themselves against evil: What is that your Lord has sent down? They say: Good! There is good for those who do good in this world but, of course, the abode of hereafter is better. Verily the abode of those who guard themselves against evil is excellent”: (30) 

> ” Gardens of eternity – they shall enter, beneath which rivers flow; in them, they shall have whatever they desire. Thus does Allah reward those who guard themselves against evil with full awareness of divine laws”: (31)

> ” Whom the angels take away in a state of goodness, saying: Peace be on you: enter the garden for what you were doing”: (32)

> ” What ! Await they aught save that the angels come to them or the decree of your Lord come to pass? Likewise did those before them. Allah did not do injustice to them, but they were unjust to their own souls”: (33)

> ” Therefore the evil they did afflicted them, and they were encompassed by that which they were mocking at”: (34) 

> ” Those who associate others with Allah say: If Allah had willed, we would not have worshipped aught beside Him, neither we nor our fathers; nor would we have forbidden anything without (a decree from) Him. Even so did those before them. Is (then) there is anything incumbent upon the messenger except the clear delivery (of the message)”? (35) 

> ” And verily We raised in every nation a messenger (who said): Worship Allah and the shun (the worship of all) idols. Some among them were those whom Allah had guided, and there were others among them who deserved the error (and it was confirmed for them). Therefore travel in the land and see what was the end of the beliers”: (36) 

Flag 49: Messengers made Disbelievers arguments null & void: (Nahl-16: 33-36)


(i) Allah’s invitation to travel in the land and see still visible signs of the end of the beliers. 

> ” If you are eager for their guidance, yet verily Allah does not guide those whom He leaves to astray and they shall have no helpers”: (37) 

> ” They swear by Allah the most earnest oaths that Allah will not raise the dead. Nay, it is a promise binding on Him in truth, but most people do not know”: (38)

> ” (He will raise them from death) so that He may manifest to them that about which they differed, and (so that) those who disbelieved may know that they were liars”: (39) 

Flag 50: Disbelievers are Liars: (Nahl-16: 37-39) 

> ” Verily, when We will a thing, the only word We may say to it is: ‘BE’, and it comes to exist”: (40) 

Flag 51: Be and It is (Kun-Faya Kun): (Nahl-16: 40) 

> ” Those who migrate in the (cause of ) Allah after having been oppressed, We will certainly give them good in this world; and certainly the reward of the hereafter is (even) greater if they only know (this)”: (41) 

> ” (This is for) those who bear with patience, and upon their Lord do they rely”: (42) 

Flag 52: Migration of Oppressed: (Nahl-16: 41-42)

> ” We did not send before you (as messenger) but men, to whom We revealed (our messages) – so ask the people of dhikr (the Quran) if you do not know>>>”: (43) 

>>> ” With clear proofs (miracles) and scriptures; and We sent to you the Dhikr (the reminder, the Quran) so that you may make clear to mankind what has been sent down to them, and so that they may reflect”: (44) 

Flag 53: Dhikr (the Quran) & People of Dhikr (Ahlul Dhikr): (Nahl-16: 43-44)


(i) Dhikr refers to the Quran or the Holy Prophet. Ahl refers to those thoroughly purified by Allah (ahzab-33: 33) and identified with the Holy Prophet & the Quran (Nur-24: 37).

> ” What! Do those who make evil plans feel secure from (the splitting of) the earth by Allah to swallow them, or of the coming of the wrath (of Allah) from where they do not perceive”: (45) 

> ” Or that He may seize them in their movements – they shall not frustrate (His decree)>>>”: (46) 

>>> ” Or He may seize them by gradual wastage? Verily your Lord is compassionate, merciful”: (47) 

> ” Do they not see that all the things Allah has created cast their shadows to the right and to the left, prostrating in obeisance to Allah, while they lie abased”: (48)

> ” To Allah prostrate in obeisance whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth from among the (moving) creatures, and the angels (also do the same), and they do not show arrogance” : (49) 

Flag 54: Warning to the Arrogant: All prostrate to Allah in obeisance: (Nahl-15: 45-50)

> ” They fear their Lord above them and do whatever they are commanded”: (50)

> ” Allah has said: Do not take two gods. Verily there is only one God. So Me alone you should fear”: (51) 

> ” Whatever is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him, and to Him (only) should there be constant obeisance. Will you then fear other than Allah”? (52)

Flag 55: Fear not but Allah: (Nahl-16: 51-52)

> ” Whatever bounty you have is from Allah; and when any distress touches you, it is Him then, you cry for help”: (53) 

> ” Yet when He removes the distress from you, Lo! Some of you associate others to their Lord”: (54) 

> ” So that they may deny what We have given them. (Say) Muhammad): Well, enjoy (your brief day), for soon you will know”: (55) 

Flag 56: Bounty is from Allah alone: (Nahl-16: 53-55)

> ” And they assign for that which they do not know a portion of that which We have given them. By Allah! You shall certainly be questioned about what you were forging”: (56) 

> ” They ascribe daughters to Allah, Glory be to Him! and for themselves they desire (sons)”! (57) 

> ” And when any of them is given the news of a daughter his face turns black, he is filled with anger”: (58) 

> :” And he hides himself from the people because of the evil of the news which was given to him. (He wonders) whether he should keep her with disgrace, or bury her (alive) in the dust? Behold! (How) evil is what they judge”! (59)

Flag 57: Birth of a Daughter: How evil they judge? (Nahl-16: 58-59)

> ” For those who do not believe in the hereafter is an evil similitude, and for Allah is the highest similitude, and He is the mighty , the all-wise”: (60)

> ” If Allah were to punish people for their inequity, He would not leave a single moving being on (the earth), but He gives them respite for an appointed term, so when their doom comes, they shall neither be able to delay it by a single hour nor shall they be able to push it ahead”: (61) 

> ” They assign to Allah what they (themselves) dislike and their tongues impute the falsehood that they shall have (all) good things. Inevitably the fire is for them. and they shall be thrown (into it) before (others)”: (62) 

> ” By Allah, We sent (messengers) to peoples before you, but Shaytan made their deeds fair-seeming to them, so he is their guardian today, and there shall be a grievous chastisement for them”: (63) 

> ” And We did not send down the book to you (O Muhammad) but that you may explain to them (the truth) about which they differ, and (as) a guidance and a mercy for the people who believe”: (64) 

Flag 58: Shirk, Ignorance, assigning evil similitude to Allah & the consequences: (Nahl-16: 56-64)

> ” Allah has sent down water from the heavens, then He enlivens the earth with it after its death;verily there is sign in this for the people who listen”: (65)

Flag 59: Consider the analogy between enlivenment of dead earth and a dead person on Allah’s command: Water-the lifeline: (Nahl-16: 65)

> ” Verily, there is a lesson for you in the cattle; We give you to drink what is in their bellies – from betwixt the (conjunction of ) faeces and the blood (vessels) – pure milk, easy to swallow for those who drink (it)”: (66) 

Flag 60: Contemplate on the Quranic biological description concerning Cattle revealed fourteen hundred years ago! (Nahl-16: 66)

> ” And in fruits of the date-palm and the grapes, from which you obtain inebriating drinks and (other) goodly nourishment. Verily in this is a sign for the people who understand”: (67) 

> ” Your Lord revealed to the bee, saying: Make hives in mountains, in trees and in that which they (mankind) build”: (68) 

> ” Then eat all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord submissively. There comes out from within (their bodies) a drink of various hues (honey), in it is healing (effect) for men, Verily in this is a sign for the people who reflect”: (69)

Flag 61: Honey-Bee: Allah’s Sign and Gift for the Mankind: (Nahl-16: 67-69)

> ” Allah has created you, and then He takes your souls; and among you is he who is brought back to the lowest (state of) age, so that he knows nothing after (having had) knowledge; verily Allah is all-knowing, all-powerful: (70)

Flag 62: Understand and get ready for mankind’s mental and physical ageing phenomenon: (Nahl-16: 70 & Yasin-36: 68)

> ” Allah has favoured some of you above others in the provision of sustenance. Now those who have been more favoured do not give their provision to those (dependants) whom their right hands possess, so that they may be equal in it. What! Is it then the bounty of Allah that they deny”? (71) 

> ” Allah has given you wives from yourselves and has given you sons and grandchildren from your wives, and provided good things for your sustenance. What! Is it then in falsehood that they believe, and in the bounty of Allah (that) they disbelieve”? (72) 

> ” They worship beside Allah, those who do not own for them any sustenance from the heavens and the earth, nor they (whom they worship) have any power”: (73) 

> ” So do not coin similitude for Allah.Verily Allah knows and you do not know” : (74) 

> ” Allah sets forth a similitude (on the one hand) a slave, the property of another, who has no power over anything, and (on the other hand) (another) to whom We have given a fair sustenance from ourselves, and he spends from it secretly and openly. Are the two equal? Praise be to Allah, but most of them do not know”: (75) 

> ” Allah sets forth (another) similitude of two men; one of them is dumb, unable to do anything and he is burden on his master – wherever he sends him, he brings no good. Can he be equal to him who enjoins justice and he (himself ) is on the right path”? (76) 

Flag 63: Think and Consider! Decide while the option is open? (Nahl-16: 71-76)

> ” To Allah belongs the unseen of the heavens and earth, and the matter of the hour (of judgment) is nothing but the twinkling of an eye, or it is nearer still. Verily Allah has power over all things”: (77) 

Flag 64: ‘The Hour’ only twinkling an eye away: (Nahl-16: 77) 

> ” Allah has brought you forth from the wombs of your mothers (while) you did not know anything; and He gave you hearing and sight and hearts that you may give thanks”: (78) 

> ” What! Do they not see the birds, held poised (in midair), in the sky? Nothing holds them but Allah. Verily in this are the signs for the people who believe”: (79)

> ” Allah has made your houses a place of rest for you, and has made houses (tents) from the skins of cattle for you which you find so light to carry on the day of your traveling and on the day of your camping; and of their wool, their fur, and their hair (He has provided you with) household goods and (other) provisions for a time”: (80) 

> ” And Allah has made for you, of what He has created, shelter; and of the mountains, He has made places of refuge for you, and He has made garments for you to protect you from heat, and coats of mail to protect you in your fighting. Thus does He completes His bounties on you so that you may submit yourselves (to him)”: (81) 

> ” But if they turn away, then on you is only the clear delivery (of the message)”: (82) 

Flag 65: Allah’s Bounties: Impossible to Deny: (Nahl -16: 78-82)

> ” They recognise the bounties of Allah, yet they deny them, and most of them are infidels”: (83) 

Flag 66: Who are those who recognise Allah’s Bounties yet they deny? (Nahl-16: 83) 


(i) Bounties (Ni-mat) refers to Holy Prophet and Ahl ul Bayt. 

> ” On the day We shall raise up a witness from every people, then there shall be no permission for those who disbelieve (to make excuses), nor shall they be allowed to make amends”: (84) 

> “And when those who were unjust shall see the torment, it shall not be lightened for them, nor shall they be given respite”: (85) 

> ” When the idolaters shall see their associate-gods they shall say: O our Lord, these are our associate-gods whom we called besides you. But they will throw back their word (blame) at them, (and say): verily you are liars”: (86)

> ” On that day they shall surrender themselves to Allah, and what they were forging shall go away from them (and leave them in lurch)”: (87)

> ” For those who disbelieve and hinder people from the way of Allah, We shall add torment to torment, because they were making mischief”: (88)

Flag 67: Mischief makers on the ‘Day’: (Nahl-16: 84-88)

> ” On the day when We shall raise up in every people a witness over them from among themselves, and bring you (O Muhammad as a witness over these; and We have sent down to you the book explaining everything, a guidance, a mercy and a glad tidings for those who submit themselves to (Allah)”: (89)

Flag 68: Holy Prophet: Witness over witnesses: (Nahl-16: 89)


(i) Being a witness over all witnesses (all prophets) reconfirms existence of the Holy Prophet from the very beginning to the end of the world.

> ” Verily Allah enjoins justice, doing good to others, and giving to kindred, and forbids lewdness, evil and rebellion. He exhorts you in order that you may take heed”: (90) 

Flag 69: Reminder! What is incumbent on you? (Nahl-16: 90) 

> Fulfil the covenant of Allah when you have covenanted, and do not break the oaths after the ratification thereof, (because) surely you have appointed Allah a surety over you. Verily Allah knows what you do”: (91) 

Flag 70: Command to fulfil covenants with Allah reiterated: (Nahal-16: 91)


(i) Covenant at Ghadir Khum was one of such covenants executed by the faithfuls.

> Do not be like her who unravels her yarn into thin filaments, after she has spun it strongly – you take your oaths as deceit between yourself (just because) one nation is more numerous than another nation. Verily Allah only tries by this, and most surely He will make it clear to you on the day of judgement about what you were differing”: (92) 

Flag 71: The unravelling of good deeds into nothing: (Nahl-16: 92)


(i) Bibi Zainab quoted this verse before the Muslims in the streets of Kufa after martyrdom of Imam Hussain at Karbala. 

> ” If Allah had willed, He would surely have made you (all) a single nation, but He leaves to stray whomsoever He wills and guides whomsoever He wills; and you will certainly be questioned about what you were doing”: (93) 

> ” Do not take your oaths as a means of deceit between yourself, lest a foot should slip after it was firmly fixed, and you taste the evil because you hindered others from the way of Allah, and a torment be for you”: (94) 

> ” Do not sell the covenant of Allah for a mean price, verily what is with Allah is better for you, if only you know”: (95) 

Flag 72: Alert! Do not sell your covenant with Allah for a mean price: (91-96)

> ” Whatever is with you comes to an end, and whatever is with Allah is everlasting. We shall certainly give those who exercise patience their return for the best of what they were doing”: (96) 

> ” Whoever did good, whether male or female, and is believer, We shall certainly make him (or her) live a good and pure life, and We shall certainly give them their return for the best of what they were doing”: (97) 

Flag 73: No Gender Gap in Islam: (Nahl-16: 97) 

> ” When you recite Quran, seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan the accursed”: (98)

> ” Verily he has no authority over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord”:(99)

> ” His authority is only over those who befriend him and those who associate others with Him: (100)

> ” When We change one sign for another sign – and Allah knows best what He sends down – they say: You (O Muhammad) are a forger! No! Most of them do not know”: (101) 

> ” Say (O Muhammad to the disbelievers): The Holy Spirit (Jibrail) has brought it down (to you) from your Lord with truth, so that it may strengthen (the faith of) those who believe, and as guidance and glad tidings for those who submit themselves to Allah”: (102) 

> ” We surely know that they say: It is only a man who teaches him.The tongue of him at whom they (falsely) hint is outlandish (non-Arabic), while this language is (pure and) manifest Arabic”: (103) 

> ” Verily those who do not believe in the signs of Allah, Allah does not guide them, and for them there shall be a painful torment”: (104) 

> ” Verily only those who do not believe in the signs of Allah forge falsehood, and the are liars”: (105) 

Flag 75: The genuineness of (Quran): (Baqarah-2: 106: Yunus-10: 15 & 16: Nahal-16: 101-105)

> ” He who disbelieves in Allah after he has believed – save he who has been forced (to do so), while his heart remains firm in faith – and opens (his) breast for disbelief, will suffer the wrath of Allah. For them there shall be great torment”: (106) 

Flag 76: Taqiyah (Concealing belief under compulsion or duress): (Nahal-16: 106)


(i) Ammar Yasir being forced to utter a word construed as recantation reported the same to the Holy Prophet at once who consoled him and confirmed his faith.

> ” This (is so) because they prefer the life of this world over the hereafter, and (because) Allah does not guide the unbelieving people”: (107)

> ” These are those on whose hearts, ears and eyes Allah has set seal; they are the heedless ones”: (108) 

> ” No doubt they will be losers the in hereafter”: (109) 

> ” Then, verily your Lord – to those who migrated after being persecuted, then they strive hard and endured patiently – verily, your Lord, after that, is oft-forgiving, most merciful”: (110) 

Flag 77: Migrants in (Taqiyah) & the Die-hard Disbelievers: (Nahal-16: 105-110)

> ” (Remember ) the day when every soul shall come pleading for itself, and every soul shall be recompensed fully for what it has done, and they will not be dealt with unjustly”: (111) 

> ” Allah sets forth a similitude: A town that was safe and secure, its sustenance came to it in abundance from every side, then it became ungrateful to the bounties of Allah; so Allah made it taste the extreme hunger and fear because of what they were doing”: (112) 

> ” Verily a messenger came to them from among themselves, but they rejected him, so the torment seized them while they were unjust”: (113)

> ” So eat the lawful and good (things) Allah has provided you, and give thanks for the bounties of Allah if it is Him that you worship”: (114) 

> ” Verily He has forbidden you what dies of itself, the blood, the flesh of swine, and that over which any name other than Allah has been invoked; but whosoever is forced by necessity, without desiring it or (wilfully) transgressing the limits, then verily Allah is oft-forgiving, most merciful”: (115) 

> ” And do not utter the lies your tongues describe: This is lawful and this is forbidden, in order to forge a lie against Allah; verily those who forge lies against Allah do not succeed”: (116) 

> ” (They shall have) a little enjoyment (in this world), then they shall have a painful torment”: (117)

> “To those who were Jews, We had forbidden them what We have (already) related to you before; We did not do injustice to them, but they were unjust to themselves”: (118)

> ” Yet, verily your Lord – to those who do an evil in ignorance, then turn repentant to Allah after that and make amends – verily your Lord is oft-forgiving, most merciful”: (119)

> ” (He was) grateful for his bounties. He (Allah) chose him and guided him to the right path”: (121) 

> ” And We gave him good in this world, and verily in the hereafter he will surely be among the righteous”: (122)

> ” So We revealed to you (O Muhammad) that you follow the religion of Ibrahim, the upright, and he was not of the polytheists”: (123) 

Flag 81: Ibrahim: The Imam: Follow the Religion of Ibrahim: (Baqarah-2: 24: Anam-6: 162-164 and Nahl-16: 120-123)

> ” Verily the Sabbath was ordained only for those who differed about it; and verily your Lord will judge between them on the day of judgement concerning that about which they used to differ”: (124) 

> ” Call to the way of your Lord with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and argue with them in a manner which is the best. Verily Your Lord knows best the person who has gone astray from His path and He knows best those who are guided aright”: (125) 

> ” If you punish then punish just as had been afflicted; if you forbear it is certainly the best for those who bear with patience”: (126) 

> ” Be patient (O Muhammad) ! And your patience is only with (the help of) Allah and do not grieve for them, and do not be distressed because of what they devise”: (127) 

> ” Verily Allah is with those who safeguard themselves against evil and those who do good”: (128)
