At the outset, it is necessary to acknowledge innumerable sources used in the compilation of this effort. No attempt has been made to list the references individually; but sincere thanks are due to all, individually and collectively.

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL
Surah Al Hijr
(01-99)
> ” Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the book, and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear”: (01)
> ” Often those who disbelieve will wish that they were Muslims”: (02)
> ” Leave them (O Muhammad) to eat and enjoy (in worldly pleasures), and let (vain) hope beguile them. Soon they will come to know”: (03)
> ” We never destroyed a town but that it had decreed term”: (04)
> ” No people can hasten its doom, nor can they delay”: (05)
Flag 1: Fixed Term of Existence for all people/entities: Neither doom hastening nor delay (Hijr-15: 04-05)
Note:
(i) The destruction of people is never arbitrary. Instead, it is brought upon themselves by their own choice.
(ii) The law or decree is always known to them beforehand; and enough respite/rope is always provided to give them a chance to understand and submit to Allah’s will.

> ” The decree of Allah comes; therefore do not (seek to) hasten it. Glory be to Him, and far exalted is He above what they associate with Him”: (01)
Flag 33: The Advent of the Holy Prophet: (Nahl-16: 01)
Note:
(i) The advent of the holy Prophet represents finality of distinction between disbelievers and the believers (faithfuls).
(ii) While the decree is there, only its execution in accordance with Allah’s plan is awaited.
(iii) Disbelievers call for hastening of the same, therefore, means nothing.
> ” He sends down the angels with the spirit (revelation) by His (decree) on whomsoever of His servants He wills, (saying): Warn mankind that there is no god but I, therefore fear Me”: (02)

> ” He it is who has made the sea subservient (to you) that you may eat fresh meat from it, and obtain ornaments which you wear. You see the ships cleaving through it that you may seek of His grace and that you may give thanks”: (14)

> ” That they may bear their burden entirely on the day of judgment, and also the burden of those whom they led astray without knowledge. How evil is that which they bear”! (25)
> ” Those who were before them, indeed, had also plotted; then (the wrath of) Allah destroyed their buildings from the foundations, and the roof fell down on them from above, and the torment came upon them from where they were not (even) aware”: (26)
> ” Then on the day of resurrection, He will disgrace them and say: Where are my (so-called) partners about whom you used to dispute? Those who have been given the knowledge will say: Verily today disgrace and evil are upon the infidels”: (27)

(i) ‘Those who have been given knowledge’ (Utul ilm) refers to thoroughly purified (Ahzab-33: 33 ) and (Rasekhoon fil ilm) as in (Al Imran-3: 7&18: Nisa-4: 162).
> ” (They are) those whom the angels terminate while they are being unjust to themselves. Then they will offer submission (saying): We were not doing anything evil. (They angels will say): Nay, verily Allah knows well what you were doing”: (28)
> ” Therefore enter the gates of hell, to abide in it for ever’. Woeful indeed will be the abode of the haughty people”: (29)

> ” (When) it is said to those who guard themselves against evil: What is that your Lord has sent down? They say: Good! There is good for those who do good in this world but, of course, the abode of hereafter is better. Verily the abode of those who guard themselves against evil is excellent”: (30)
> ” Gardens of eternity – they shall enter, beneath which rivers flow; in them, they shall have whatever they desire. Thus does Allah reward those who guard themselves against evil with full awareness of divine laws”: (31)
> ” Whom the angels take away in a state of goodness, saying: Peace be on you: enter the garden for what you were doing”: (32)

> ” What ! Await they aught save that the angels come to them or the decree of your Lord come to pass? Likewise did those before them. Allah did not do injustice to them, but they were unjust to their own souls”: (33)

> ” Those who associate others with Allah say: If Allah had willed, we would not have worshipped aught beside Him, neither we nor our fathers; nor would we have forbidden anything without (a decree from) Him. Even so did those before them. Is (then) there is anything incumbent upon the messenger except the clear delivery (of the message)”? (35)
> ” And verily We raised in every nation a messenger (who said): Worship Allah and the shun (the worship of all) idols. Some among them were those whom Allah had guided, and there were others among them who deserved the error (and it was confirmed for them). Therefore travel in the land and see what was the end of the beliers”: (36)

> ” Whatever is in the heavens and the earth belongs to Him, and to Him (only) should there be constant obeisance. Will you then fear other than Allah”? (52)
Flag 55: Fear not but Allah: (Nahl-16: 51-52)
> ” Whatever bounty you have is from Allah; and when any distress touches you, it is Him then, you cry for help”: (53)
> ” Yet when He removes the distress from you, Lo! Some of you associate others to their Lord”: (54)
> ” So that they may deny what We have given them. (Say) Muhammad): Well, enjoy (your brief day), for soon you will know”: (55)
Flag 56: Bounty is from Allah alone: (Nahl-16: 53-55)
> ” And they assign for that which they do not know a portion of that which We have given them. By Allah! You shall certainly be questioned about what you were forging”: (56)
> ” They ascribe daughters to Allah, Glory be to Him! and for themselves they desire (sons)”! (57)
> ” And when any of them is given the news of a daughter his face turns black, he is filled with anger”: (58)
> :” And he hides himself from the people because of the evil of the news which was given to him. (He wonders) whether he should keep her with disgrace, or bury her (alive) in the dust? Behold! (How) evil is what they judge”! (59)

> ” For those who do not believe in the hereafter is an evil similitude, and for Allah is the highest similitude, and He is the mighty , the all-wise”: (60)
> ” If Allah were to punish people for their inequity, He would not leave a single moving being on (the earth), but He gives them respite for an appointed term, so when their doom comes, they shall neither be able to delay it by a single hour nor shall they be able to push it ahead”: (61)
> ” They assign to Allah what they (themselves) dislike and their tongues impute the falsehood that they shall have (all) good things. Inevitably the fire is for them. and they shall be thrown (into it) before (others)”: (62)
> ” By Allah, We sent (messengers) to peoples before you, but Shaytan made their deeds fair-seeming to them, so he is their guardian today, and there shall be a grievous chastisement for them”: (63)
> ” And We did not send down the book to you (O Muhammad) but that you may explain to them (the truth) about which they differ, and (as) a guidance and a mercy for the people who believe”: (64)
Flag 58: Shirk, Ignorance, assigning evil similitude to Allah & the consequences: (Nahl-16: 56-64)
> ” Allah has sent down water from the heavens, then He enlivens the earth with it after its death;verily there is sign in this for the people who listen”: (65)
Flag 59: Consider the analogy between enlivenment of dead earth and a dead person on Allah’s command: Water-the lifeline: (Nahl-16: 65)
> ” Verily, there is a lesson for you in the cattle; We give you to drink what is in their bellies – from betwixt the (conjunction of ) faeces and the blood (vessels) – pure milk, easy to swallow for those who drink (it)”: (66)
Flag 60: Contemplate on the Quranic biological description concerning Cattle revealed fourteen hundred years ago! (Nahl-16: 66)
> ” And in fruits of the date-palm and the grapes, from which you obtain inebriating drinks and (other) goodly nourishment. Verily in this is a sign for the people who understand”: (67)
> ” Your Lord revealed to the bee, saying: Make hives in mountains, in trees and in that which they (mankind) build”: (68)
> ” Then eat all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord submissively. There comes out from within (their bodies) a drink of various hues (honey), in it is healing (effect) for men, Verily in this is a sign for the people who reflect”: (69)
Flag 61: Honey-Bee: Allah’s Sign and Gift for the Mankind: (Nahl-16: 67-69)
> ” Allah has created you, and then He takes your souls; and among you is he who is brought back to the lowest (state of) age, so that he knows nothing after (having had) knowledge; verily Allah is all-knowing, all-powerful: (70)
Flag 62: Understand and get ready for mankind’s mental and physical ageing phenomenon: (Nahl-16: 70 & Yasin-36: 68)
> ” Allah has favoured some of you above others in the provision of sustenance. Now those who have been more favoured do not give their provision to those (dependants) whom their right hands possess, so that they may be equal in it. What! Is it then the bounty of Allah that they deny”? (71)
> ” Allah has given you wives from yourselves and has given you sons and grandchildren from your wives, and provided good things for your sustenance. What! Is it then in falsehood that they believe, and in the bounty of Allah (that) they disbelieve”? (72)
> ” They worship beside Allah, those who do not own for them any sustenance from the heavens and the earth, nor they (whom they worship) have any power”: (73)
> ” So do not coin similitude for Allah.Verily Allah knows and you do not know” : (74)
> ” Allah sets forth a similitude (on the one hand) a slave, the property of another, who has no power over anything, and (on the other hand) (another) to whom We have given a fair sustenance from ourselves, and he spends from it secretly and openly. Are the two equal? Praise be to Allah, but most of them do not know”: (75)
> ” Allah sets forth (another) similitude of two men; one of them is dumb, unable to do anything and he is burden on his master – wherever he sends him, he brings no good. Can he be equal to him who enjoins justice and he (himself ) is on the right path”? (76)
Flag 63: Think and Consider! Decide while the option is open? (Nahl-16: 71-76)
> ” To Allah belongs the unseen of the heavens and earth, and the matter of the hour (of judgment) is nothing but the twinkling of an eye, or it is nearer still. Verily Allah has power over all things”: (77)

> ” Allah has brought you forth from the wombs of your mothers (while) you did not know anything; and He gave you hearing and sight and hearts that you may give thanks”: (78)

> ” Allah has made your houses a place of rest for you, and has made houses (tents) from the skins of cattle for you which you find so light to carry on the day of your traveling and on the day of your camping; and of their wool, their fur, and their hair (He has provided you with) household goods and (other) provisions for a time”: (80)
> ” And Allah has made for you, of what He has created, shelter; and of the mountains, He has made places of refuge for you, and He has made garments for you to protect you from heat, and coats of mail to protect you in your fighting. Thus does He completes His bounties on you so that you may submit yourselves (to him)”: (81)
> ” But if they turn away, then on you is only the clear delivery (of the message)”: (82)

> ” They recognise the bounties of Allah, yet they deny them, and most of them are infidels”: (83)

Flag 69: Reminder! What is incumbent on you? (Nahl-16: 90)
> Fulfil the covenant of Allah when you have covenanted, and do not break the oaths after the ratification thereof, (because) surely you have appointed Allah a surety over you. Verily Allah knows what you do”: (91)

> ” Do not take your oaths as a means of deceit between yourself, lest a foot should slip after it was firmly fixed, and you taste the evil because you hindered others from the way of Allah, and a torment be for you”: (94)
