Surah Al An-am

(112-166)

> ” And had We sent down to them angels, and had the dead spoken to them, and (even) if had We gathered all things before their eyes, (even then) they would not believe unless Allah (so) pleases; but most of them (deliberately) ignore (the truth)”: (112)

> ” Thus We made for every messenger an enemy, the devils among men and Jinn, who inspire one another with tinsel discourses to deceive. And had your Lord pleased they would not have done so, therefore leave them and what they forge” : (113)

> ” So that the hearts of those who do not believe in the hereafter (life to come), may incline thereto, and be pleased with it, and that they may earn what they are earning” : (114)

Flag 1: Allah’ Way with the Disbelievers: (Anam-6: 112-114)

> ” Say: Should I seek another judge apart from Allah, when it is He who has sent down to you the book fully explained? And those whom We have given the book know that it has been sent down from your Lord with the truth, so do not be of those who doubt”: (115)

> ” Perfect is the word of your Lord in truth and justice; and there is none who can change His words, and He is all-hearing and all-knowing” : (116)

Flag 2: Allah’s perfect word in truth and justice: (Anam-6: 115-116)

> ” And if you obey most of these on the earth, they will lead you astray from Allah’s way, for they follow only conjecture, and they only (falsely) surmise”: (117)

> ” Verily, He, your Lord, knows best who strays from His way, and knows best those who follow the right guidance”: (118)

Flag 3: Beware of majority led conjecture based misleading tendencies: (Anam-6: 117-118)

> ” Therefore eat (lawful meat) of that over which the name of Allah has been mentioned, if you are believers in His signs”: (119)

> ” What is your objection to eating that (meat) over which name of Allah has been mentioned, while He has indeed made plain to you what He has forbidden to you unless you are compelled to it? Verily many leads (others) astray by their vain desires without knowledge. Verily your Lord knows best the transgressors” : (120)

> ” Keep away from all sins, open and secrete; verily those who sin will soon be punished for what they have earned” : (121)

> ” And do not eat of what over which Allah’s name has not been mentioned, (for) verily it is transgression; and verily the devils transpire their friends, that they should contend with; and if you obey them, you will become polytheists” : (122)

Flag 4: The Lawful Meat: (Anam-6: 119-122)

> ” Is he who was dead, then We raised him to life and made for him a light by which he walks among the people, like him whose similitude is (that he is) in utter darkness whence he cannot come out of it? Thus has been made fair seeming for the disbelievers what they did” : (123)

Flag 5: Rightly Guided (on illuminated path) & Disbelievers (lost in utter darkness): (Anam-6: 123)

Note:

(i) Aayat refers to Ammar Yasir’s faith ( illuminated path) & Abu Jahal’s infidelity ( groping in utter darkness).

> ” Thus We made in every town great ones of its guilty ones, that they plot therein; and they plot not but against their own souls, and they perceive not”: (124)

> ” And when a sign comes to them, they say: We will never believe until we are given the like of what was given to the messengers of Allah. Allah knows best where to place His prophet-hood. Soon shall humiliation from Allah befall those who are guilty, and severe chastisement for that what they cunningly plot: (125)

> ” Whomsoever Allah wills that He should guide him, He expands his breast for Islam; and whomsoever He intends to leave straying, He makes his breast strait, narrow, as if he is climbing into the sky. Thus Allah lay ignominious chastisement on those who do not believe”: (126)

Flag 6: How & Why the Way to (Sirate-Mustaqim) is lost and by Whom? (Anam-6: 124-126)

> ” And this is the path of your Lord, a straight path. Indeed We have made clear the signs for the people who take heed”: (127)

> ” For them shall be an abode of peace with their Lord. He is their guardian because of what they used to do”: (128)

Flag 7: And Those on (Sirate-Mustaqim): (Anam-6: 127&128)

> ” On the day He shall gather them together (He will say): O Assembly of Jinn, much (toll) did you take of a large number of men. And their friends amongst men will say: O our Lord! Some of us made much use of others, and (now) we have reached the term You did appoint for us. He will say: The fire is your abode, you shall dwell therein, save as Allah pleases. Verily your Lord is wise all-knowing”: (129)

> ” Thus do We keep some of the unjust close to others (as friends) because of what they used to earn”: (130)

> ” O assembly of Jinn and men! Did not messengers come to you from among you, relating to My signs and warning you of the meeting of this day of yours? They shall say: We bear witness against ourselves. And the life of this world deceived them, and they shall bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers”: (131)

> ” This is so because your Lord does not destroy towns unjustly while their inhabitants are unaware (not warned)”: (132)

Flag 8: On the Day: Assembly of Jinn & Men & Consequences of Evil Collaboration between them: (Anam-6:129-132)

> ” And for all there are degrees in accordance with that which they did, and your Lord is not unaware of what they do”: (133)

Flag 9: Proportionate Rewards/Punishment based on deeds: (Anam-6: 133)

Note:

(i) The consequences in Allah’s Way are based on degrees of involvement (good or bad). Accordingly, rewards and punishment are all proportionately based.

> ” And your Lord is self-sufficient, Lord of mercy. If He pleases, He may take you away, and make whom He pleases succeed you, just as He raised you from the progeny of others”: (134)

Flag 10: Allah’s Way towards Succession of Generations: (Anam-6: 134)

> ” Verily that you are promised will certainly come to pass, and you cannot put it off”: (135)

> ” Say: O My people act according to your ability; verily I too am acting (in my way). You will soon know whose end will be the (blissful) abode in the hereafter. Verily the unjust shall not succeed”: (136)

Flag 11: Assured Failure of the Unjust & Call to Faithful to Vie for a Blissful End: (Anam-6: 135-136):

> They assign to Allah, of the tilth and cattle which He created, a share, and say: This is Allah’s, according to their assertions. Then what is for their associates does not reach Allah while that which is for Allah reaches associates. How evil is the judgement they make”! (137)

Flag 12: Absurd Rites & Rituals to Exploit Ignorant People in the name of God: (Anam-6: 137)

> ” And thus their associates have made fair seeming to most of the polytheists the slaying of their children, so that they may cause them to parish, and that they may confound to them their religion. And if Allah had desired, they would not have done so, therefore leave them and what they forge”: (138)

> ” And they say: These cattle and these crops are consecrated (taboo); none shall eat them save those we please. This is their assertion. And (there are) cattle whose backs are forbidden, and the cattle over which they do not mention the name of Allah, forging a lie against Him. Soon He will requite them for what they forge”: (139)

> ” And they say: What is in the womb of these cattle is exclusively reserved for our males, and is forbidden to our wives, and if it be stillborn, then all of them are partners in it. Soon He will punish them for that they (falsely) attribute (to Allah). Verily He is wise, all-knowing”: (140)

> “Indeed lost are those who slay their children foolishly (and) without knowledge, and forbid what Allah has given them, (by) forging lies against Allah. Indeed they have gone astray, and are not guided” : (141)

Flag 13: Forging lies against Allah and slaying children: The superstitious rites and rituals: (138-141)

> ” He it is who produces gardens trellised and unrealized, and date-palms; and tilth with produce of all kinds, and olives, and pomegranates, similar (in kind) and different (in variety). Eat of the fruit when they yield fruit; and give His share on the day of harvesting; and do not be extravagant. Verily He does not love those who are extravagant”: (142)

Flag 14: Guidance for Overall Welfare of the Human Society: (Anam-6: 142)

Note:

(i) All gardens are Allah’s Creation for the benefit of mankind.

(ii) Give His (Allah’s) share and do not be extravagant is the overall Guidance.

(iii) For giving Allah’s share (Zakat, Khoms, Sadqa, etc) refer to fiqh

> ” And of the cattle, some are the beasts of burden, and some too low to carry the burden. Eat of what Allah provides you with, and do not follow the footsteps of Shaytan, verily he is your declared enemy”: (143)

> ” (Take) eight in (four) pairs – two of sheep and two of goats. Say: Has He forbidden the two males or two females, or what is contained in the wombs of the two females? Inform me with knowledge, if you are truthful”: 144)

> ” And of the camels two and two of the oxen; say: Has He forbidden the two males or the two females, or that the wombs of the two females contain? Or were you witness when Allah enjoined this? Who then is more unjust than who he forges a lie against Allah to lead astray mankind, without any knowledge? Verily Allah does not guide people who are unjust”: (145)

Flag 15: Allah’s Law against Conjectures in the Matters of the Religion: (Anam-6: 143-145)

Note:

(i) The rights & superstitions already covered (Anam-6:137-140) have been further ridiculed in the above verses.

> ” Say: I do not find, in what has been revealed to me, anything forbidden to an eater that he eats thereof, except carrion, or blood poured forth, or flesh of swine, for verily that is unclean, or a transgression (if slaughtered) in the name of other than Allah: but if one is constrained to (eat) it, neither lusting nor (wilfully) transgressing the limits, then, verily, your Lord is oft-forgiving, merciful”: (146)

Flag 16: Forbidden Meat: (Anam-6: 146)

> ” And to those who are Jews, We forbade every animal with undivided hoof, and of the oxen, and the sheep. We forbade them fat of both, save that on their backs or their entrails, or what is mixed with their bones, this was the punishment for their rebellion; and verily We are truthful”: (147)

Flag 17: Jews Food Restrains: A Punishment: (Anam-6: 147)

> ” If they belie you (O Muhammad), then say: Your Lord is full of all-embracing mercy; but His wrath shall not be turned back from the people who are guilty”: (148)

> ” Those who are polytheist will say: Had Allah wished we would not have associated (others with Him), nor would have our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything: Thus those before them belied until they tasted our wrath. Say: Have you any knowledge? If so produce it before us; you follow nothing but conjecture; you do nothing but guess”: (149)

> ” Then, Allah’s is the decisive argument. Had Allah wished He would surely have guided all of you aright”: (150)

> ” Say: Bring your witness who can bear witness that Allah has forbidden (all) this. Then (even) if they bear witness you should not bear witness with them; and do not follow the wishes of those who do not believe in the hereafter, while they make others equal with their Lord”: (151)

Flag 18: Polytheists’ argument denying any responsibility of their actions being a victim of determinism against which they are helpless: (Anam-6: 148-151)

> ” Say (O Muhammad): Come! I will recite (to) you what your Lord forbidden to you: that you do not associate anything with Him, and be good to your parents, and do not slay your children for (fear of) poverty. We provide for you and for them. And do not draw near to shameful deeds, whether open or hidden, and do not take a life which Allah has forbidden, save in the course of justice: This He enjoins on you, so that you may understand”: (152)

> ” And do not approach (meddle with) the property of an orphan, save (manage it) in the best manner, till he reaches maturity, Give full measure and full weight in justice. We do not task a soul except according to its capacity. And when you speak, be just even though it be against a kinsman; And fulfil Allah’s covenant. This He enjoins on you, so that you may be mindful”: (153)

Flag 19: Evaluate Yourself against Allah’s (Do’s & Don’ts): (Anam-6: 152-153)

Notes:

(i) Allah’s covenant refers to the covenant made at Ghadir Khum.

(ii) Judgement in respect of each soul shall be proportionate with respect to his intellect and guidance made available to him.

> ” And (He commands) that: verily this is my way, straight, so follow it, and do not follow (other) ways; for they will deviate you from His path. This He enjoins on you, so that you may safeguard yourself (against evil) with full awareness of divine laws”: (154)

Flag 20: Highway to Allah’s Way (Sunnat): (Anam-6: 152-154)

Note:

(i) The understanding and adoption of the commands contained in the above three verses (Anam-6: 152-154) could truly be termed as the (Sirat-e-Mustaqim) Highway.

> ” Moreover, We gave Musa the book, completing (Our favour) to those who would do good, and explaining all things in detail, and guidance and a mercy, so that they may believe in the meeting of their Lord”: (155)

Flag 21: Completion of Allah’s Favours on Musa & Muhammad: (Anam-6: 155 & Maidah-5: 03)

Note:

(i) Analogy between completing favours on Jews as above and on Muslims at Ghadir Khum (Maidah-5: 03) is unmistakable.

(ii) In both cases, the covenant with Allah was broken.

> ” And this (Quran) is a book We have sent down, blessed, so follow it, and safeguard yourself (against evil) with full awareness of divine laws, so that you may be shown mercy”: (156)

Flag 22: The blessed book (Quran): (Anam-6: 156)

> ” Lest you (polytheists) should say: The book was sent down only to two parties (the Jews and the Christians) before us, and verily we were unaware of what they read”: (157)

> ” Or lest you should say: If only a book had been sent to us, we should have been better guided than they. So Indeed has (now) come to you a manifest proof from your Lord – and a guidance and a mercy. Who then is more unjust than he who belies the signs of Allah and turns away from them? Soon We shall punish those who turn away from our signs with a severe chastisement for their turning away”: (158)

> ” Wait they, indeed, (to see) that the angels come to them, or that your Lord (Himself) comes, or some signs of your Lord come? On the day when some of the signs of your Lord come, belief will not profit any soul who did not believe before, or did not earn any good by its belief. Say (O Muhammad): Wait, verily we too are waiting” : (159)

Flag 23: The Warning: No room left for complaints either by polytheists or faithfuls: (Anam-6: 157-159)

> ” Verily those who have divided religion and formed (different) parties, you have no concern with them. Their affair is with Allah. He will inform them as to what they used to do” :(160)

Flag 24: No Possibility of ‘Interfaith’ or ‘Inter-sectarian’ approach in the matter of Religion: (Anam-6: 160)

Note:

(i) Children of Adam have been created by Allah as a single community with one common religion (Islam) which is the religion of Ibrahim and his entire progeny.

(ii) Dividing religion into faiths, sects and/or parties stands out as an unforgivable act.

> ” Whosoever comes with a good deed for him shall be ten like thereof; and whosoever comes with an evil deed shall not be punished save with the like thereof; and they shall not be dealt with unjustly”: (161)

Flag 25: Tenfold reward for good deeds: (Anam-6: 161)

> ” Say (O Muhammad): As for me , my Lord has guided me to the right path: an established (right) religion, the faith of Ibrahim, the upright, and he was not of the polytheists”: (162)

> ” Say: Verily my prayer and my sacrifice, my life and my death (all of them) are of Allah, the Lord of the worlds” :(163)

> ” He has no associate, and so am I commanded, I am the first of the Muslims (those who submit to Allah)”: (164)

Flag 26: The Absolute Surrender to Allah: (Anam-6: 162-164)

Note:

(i) The faith of the people of book (Judaism & Christianity) were instituted after the revelation of the Turah & Injil to Musa and Isa respectively.

(ii) The ‘Divine’ religion of Allah (Islam) was preached and practised by all His prophets from Adam to Muhammad. From the beginning of the world to end, Islam (total submission to Allah) remains to be the only religion.

(iii) Reference concerning Ibrahim’s religion:

> ” Ibrahim was not a Jew, nor a Christian, but an upright Muslim; and he was not of polytheists”

(Imran-3: 67)

> ” Say: ‘ Shall I seek a lord other than Allah, while He is the Lord of all things? ‘ And no soul earns anything (evil) but against itself; and no bearer of burden shall bear another’s burden. Then to your Lord is your return, so that He will inform you of that in which you used to differ”: (165)

Flag 27: Discard the Extra-Baggage: (Anam-6: 165)

(i) None of the faithfuls carry any identity other than being a (Muslim). All other interfaith and/or sectarian tags (such as Jews, Christians, Sunni, Shia, etc) are nothing but an unnecessary and superfluous Extra-Baggage.

> “ And He it is Who has made you (His) vicegerent in the earth, and has raised some of you above the others in grades, that He may try you in what He gave you; verily your Lord is quick in the requital of evil, and (yet) verily He is oft-forgiving, merciful” : (166)

Flag 28: Allah’s Way in Business and Personal Hierarchy: (Anam-6: 166 & Zukhruf-43: 32)

> ” And he swore to them both: Verily I am to you a sincere adviser”: (21)

> ” Then he instigated them both by deceit. When they tasted of the tree, their shame became exposed to them, and they both began to cover themselves with the leaves of the garden; and their Lord called out to them: Did I not forbid you two from that tree, and (did I not) tell you both that Shaytan is your declared enemy”? Verily, We have made the devils to be the guardians of those who believe not”: (27)

Flag 36: Allah’s guidance & alert to Children of Adam: (Araf-7: 26-27):

Flag 37: Lewdness forbidden by Allah: (Araf-7: 28)

They will say: They have left us in lurch, and they shall bear witness against themselves that they were infidels”: (37)

> ” He will say: Enter the fire among the people who have passed away before you, of jinn and men. Every time a people enters (it), it shall curse its sister-people (that went before), until they all arrive one after another therein, the last to come will say of those who had come before them: O our Lord! These are they who had led us astray; therefore give them double chastisement in the fire. He will say: For all of you it is double, but you do not know”: (38)
