IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE BENEFICENT, THE MERCIFUL
Surah Al Araf
(88-206)
> ” The chiefs of those who were arrogant amongst his people said: Certainly we will turn you out, O Shuayb, and those who believe with you, from our town, unless you come back to our faith. He said: What! Even though we detest it”? (88)
> ” Indeed we shall be forging a lie against Allah if we return to your faith after Allah has delivered us from it. It is not for us to return to it, save that Allah, our Lord (so) wills. Our Lord comprehends everything (and everything) is in His knowledge. On Allah do we rely. Our Lord! Decide between us and between our people with truth: You are the best of the deciders”: (89)
> ” And the chiefs of those who disbelieved amongst his people said: (Beware) if you follow Shuayb, certainly you shall be the losers”: (90)
> ” Then an earthquake seized them; so that they lay overturned on the ground (dead) in their dwellings”: (91)
> ” Those who belied Shuayb became as though they had never dwelt therein. Those who belied Shuayb (it is) they (who) became the losers”: 92)
> ” So he turned away from them and said: O people! Indeed I delivered to you the message of my Lord, and admonished you, so how can I grieve for a disbelieving people”: (93)
Flag 1: Rebellious (Madyan Residents) destroyed by an earthquake: (Araf-7: 85-93)
> ” We sent no prophet unto any town but We seized its people with distress and adversity that haply they might humble themselves”: (94)
> ” Then We changed their evil (plight) for good till they grew and multiplied, and they said: Indeed adversity and happiness (also) touched our fathers. Then We seized them suddenly, while they were not aware”: (95)

Flag 10: Musa’s advice to his people: (Araf-7: 127-129)
> ” Indeed We seized the people of Firawn with famine and dearth of fruits, that haply they might take heed”: (130)
> But whenever good came to them, they said: This is due to us: and whenever evil smote them they ascribed it to evil augury of Musa and those with him. Behold, verily their evil augury was only with Allah; but most of them do not know”: (131)
> “And they said: Whatever the sign you may bring to enchant us, we will not believe in you”: (132)
> ” So we sent upon them: flood, and locust, and lice, and frogs, and blood, several clear signs, yet they remained arrogant, and they were guilty people”: (133)
> ” Every time punishment fell on them they said: O Musa pray for us to your Lord because He has a covenant with you. If you remove the torment from us, surely we will believe in you and surely we will send with you the children of Israil”: (134)
> ” But every time We removed the torment from them, till a fixed term which they were to reach, lo! they broke their promise”: (135)
> ” So We inflicted retribution on them, and drowned them in the sea, because they belied our signs, and were heedless of them”: (136)
Flag 11: Chastisement of Firawn and his people: (Araf-7: 130-136):
> ” And We made the people, who were (considered) weak, inheritors of the land to the east and west which we had blessed. And the good word of your Lord to the Children of Israil was fulfilled, because of their endurance; and We destroyed that which Firawn and his people had wrought, and that which they had raised”: (137)
> ” And We brought the children of Israil across the sea (with safety), then they came to people who were devoted to the worship of their own idols. They (the children of Israil) said: O Musa, make for us a god like the gods they have. He said: Verily you are a people given to ignorance”: (138)
> ” As to these people, surely on account of what they are in, they shall be destroyed, and vain is what they do”: (139)
> ” He said: Shall I seek for you a god other than (the true) Allah, when He has exalted you over (the people of the) worlds”? (140)
> ” And (remember) when We rescued you from the people of Firawn who afflicted you with grievous torment, slaying your sons and sparing your women, and in this was a great trial from your Lord”: (141)
Flag 12: Ever Thankless Children of Israil: (Araf-7: 137-141)
> ” And We made an appointment of thirty nights with Musa, and We completed them with ten (more); so the term of his Lord was completed in forty nights. Musa said to his brother Harun: Take my place among my people, act rightly, and do not follow the path of mischief-makers”: (142)
> ” And when Musa came to our appointment, and his Lord spoke to him, he said: My Lord! Show (Yourself) to me that I may look at You. Allah said: You can not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it remains firm in its place, then you may see Me. But when his Lord manifested His glory to the mountain, it crumbled to a heap of dust, and Musa fell down unconscious, and when he recovered, he said: Glory be to You, I turn to you repentant, and I am first of the believers”: (143)
> ” He said: O Musa! Verily I have chosen you above all people with my message and with my words (speech); take then what (I) give you and be of the thankful”: (144)
> ” And We wrote for him in the tablets instructions of all kinds and explanations of all things, (and said): Hold these with firmness and command your people to carry out the best thereof. Soon I will show you the abode of the wicked”: (145)
Flag 13: Musa gets Commandments: (Araf-7: 142-145)
> ” I shall turn away from signs those who act unjustly with arrogance in the earth; and (even) if they see all the signs they will not believe in them, and (even) if they see the right path they will not adopt it as (their) path; and if they see the way of error, they will adopt it as (the right) path. This is so because they belied Our signs and were heedless of them”: (146)
” Vain shall be the deeds of those who belie Our signs and meeting of the hereafter. Shall they ever be rewarded of anything but what they did”? (147)
Flag 14: Know those & their deeds that shall never be rewarded? (Araf-7: 146-147)
> The people of Musa after him, (in his absence), prepared the image of a calf from their ornaments; a body which seemed to give a lowing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to any way? They adopted it (for worship) and they were unjust”: (148)
> ” And when they repented and saw that they had gone astray, they said: If our Lord have not mercy on us and forgive us, surely we shall be of the losers”: (149)
> ” When Musa returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said: Evil is the way you have neglected me in my absence. Did you make haste for the command of your Lord’? And he threw down the tablets, and seized his brother by the head, dragging him towards (him). (Harun) said: O son of my mother, verily the people reckoned me weak and almost killed me, so do not let (my) enemies rejoice at my plight, and do not count me among the unjust people”: (150)
> ” (Musa) said: My Lord! forgive me and my brother and admit us to your mercy, and You are the most merciful of the merciful”: (151)
> ” Verily (as to) those who adopted the calf (as a god), wrath from their Lord shall soon catch them; and (there will be) disgrace (for them) in the life of the world.Thus do We requite those who forge lies”: (152)
> ” But (as to ) those who do evil deeds, then they repent after that, and believe, verily, your Lord, after that, is certainly forgiving merciful”: (153)
> ” When Musa’s anger was appeased, he took up the tablets; in the writing thereon was guidance and mercy for those who fear their Lord”: (154)
Flag 15: Calf (Baqarah) Worship and other continued disobedience by the children of Israil: (Araf-7:148-154)
> ” And Musa chose seventy men of his people for Our appointment, then when a tremor seized them, he prayed: My Lord! Had You pleased, You could have destroyed them and me before this. Will You destroy us of what the foolish among us have done? It is nothing but Your trial; You cause to stray whomsoever You will, and guide whosoever You please; You are our guardian, so forgive us and have mercy on us, and You are the best of forgivers”: (155)
Flag 16: Those who wanted to see Allah Face to Face and the Consequences: (Araf-7: 155)
> ” And ordain on us good in the world and in the hereafter. Verily we turn to You alone. Allah said: (As to) My chastisement, I will afflict with it whomsoever I will, and (as to) My mercy, it embraces everything. Therefore soon I will ordain it (particularly) for those who safeguard themselves (against evil) with full awareness of divine laws, and pay zakat, and those who believe in our signs”: (156)

> ” (And) those who follow the messenger, the prophet, the ummi, whom they find mentioned in the Tawrat and the Injil; he commands them to do that which is good, and he prevents them from evil, and he makes lawful for them all good things, and he prohibits for them only the foul (unclean things), and he relieves them of their burdens, and the yokes that lie upon them, so those who believe in him and honour him, and help him, and follow the light which has been sent down with him, are those who achieve success”: (157)

> ” And when it was said to them: Dwell in this town and eat therefrom as you wish, and say: ‘Remit our sins’ and enter the gate prostrate; We will forgive your sins ; and soon We will add more to to those who do good (to others)”: (161)
> ” But those of them who were unjust changed the word which had been spoken to them for another, whereupon We sent upon them a scourge from heaven, for they had been doing injustice”: (162)

> ” And ask them (O Muhammad) about the town which was on the sea shore, when they exceeded the limit with regard to the Sabbath, when the fish came to them on the day of Sabbath, appearing on the surface of the water, and on the day, they did not observe Sabbath, they (the fish) did not come to them, Thus did We try them because they were transgressing”: (163)
> ” And when a party of them said: Why do you admonish a people whom Allah is going to destroy or chastise with a severe chastisement? They said: In order to be free from blame before your Lord, perchance they may safeguard themselves (against evil)”: (164)
> ” When they forgot that whereof they had been warned, We delivered those who forbade evil, and seized those who were unjust with a dreadful chastisement because they were transgressing”: (165)

(i) Anfal refers to accession of the property, for which there is no owner or claimant, particularly spoils of war, at the end of a battle.
> ” Verily only those are the believers whose hearts, when Allah is mentioned, thrill with fear, and when His signs are recited to them they increase their faith, and upon their Lord they rely” : (02)
> ” Who establish prayer and out of what We have provided them with they spend” : (03)
> ” These are the people who are true believers; for them are (exalted) grades with their Lord, and forgiveness, and honourable sustenance”: (04)

> ” Even as your Lord caused you to go forth from your house with the truth, verily a party of the believers were certainly averse (to it)”: (05)

> ” And when Allah promised you one of the two (enemy) parties, that it should be yours, You wished that the one unarmed should be yours, but Allah intended to establish the truth by His words, and to cut off the roots of the infidels”: (07)
> ” In order that He may establish the truth and bring to naught what was false, even though the guilty disliked (it)”: (08)
> ” Remember when you implored the help of your Lord, He answered you: ‘ Verily, I will help you, with a thousand of the angels coming in an unbroken succession”: (09)
> ” And Allah did not cause this save as a glad tiding, so that your hearts might thereby be at rest (convinced), and there is no help save from Allah. Verily, Allah is mighty wise”: (10)
> ” Remember when He caused slumber to cover you as a security from Himself and sent down water from heaven that He might cleanse you with it and take away from you the uncleanliness of Shaytan, and make strong your hearts and plant your feet firmly therewith”: (11)
> ” When your Lord revealed to the angels (saying): ‘ Verily, I am with you, so make firm those who believe, soon I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve, therefore strike above their neck; and strike of all their finger tips”: (12)
> ” This is because they opposed Allah and His messenger (Muhammad), and whosoever opposes Allah and His messenger then verily Allah is severe in retribution”: (13)
> ” This is for you, taste it then, and (know) that for infidels is the torment of fire” : (14)
> ” O you who believe! When you meet those who disbelieve (to attack) in battle, do not turn your backs to them”: (15)
> ” And whosoever turns his back to them on that day, except be in stratagem of fighting, or for the purpose of joining (his own) contingent, then he deserves a wrath of Allah, and his abode is hell; and what an evil abode”: (16)
> ” So you did not slay them but Allah slew them, and you did not throw (the dust) but Allah did it, in order that He might test the believers by a gracious trial from Himself. Verily Allah is hearing, knowing”: (17)
> ” This is so. And (know) that Allah weakens the plots of the infidels”: (18)
Flag 39: Allah is with the Believers: Warning to Infidel: (Anfal-8: 19)
> ” ( O infidels) if you besought a victory, then indeed the judgement (victory of the Muslims) has come to you, if you desist (from attacking the faithful) it will be better for you; and if you return (to attack), We also shall return (to assist the believers), and your forces shall avail you nothing, though it be large, and (know) that Allah is with the believers”: (19)

> ” And remember when you were few and reckoned weak in the land, fearing that other people might carry you away by force, but He gave you shelter, and strengthened you with His aid, and provided you with good things that you might give thanks” : (26)
> ” O You who believe ! Do not be unfaithful to Allah and His messenger (Muhammad) nor be unfaithful to the trusts with you, while you know”: (27)
